2010 NFL Draft Preview: Dan Williams

Dan Williams is the 6'2 327lb senior defensive tackle out of Tennessee. Scout.com considers Dan Williams to be a five-star prospect, the third best defensive tackle and the thirteenth best prospect in the 2010 NFL Draft.

Dan Williams' Strengths

1) According Frank Cooney at CBS Sports Williams "led SEC defensive linemen with 61 tackles."

2)"Williams has excellent straight-ahead quickness," according to Cooney.

3) William's possesses "sheer power" stated by Cooney.

4) According to NFLDraftscout.com's Rob Rang, Dan "is precisely the type of squatty, powerful two-gap fire hydrant teams are looking for in a nose guard."

Dan Williams' Weaknesses

1) Matt McGuire of WalterFootball.com questions Dan's work ethic. Stating Williams had a "mediocre work ethic in past."

2) His work ethic might be a contributor to why McGuire feels Dan "tends to wear down in second half"

Dan Williams will be drafted by the Miami Dolphins ion the first round.

The Miami Dolphins have a need for a nose tackle since Jason Ferguson will "be forced to sit out the first eight games of the season while serving a suspension for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances," according to Fox Sports. The Dolphins hold the 12^th pick in the 2010 NFL Draft and the pick fits Dan Williams. The Washington Redskins might be interested in Williams but the fourth spot is too high. Other teams would be interested in Dan if his stock dropped. The Cardinals, the Jets, The Colts all would be interested in Williams. Miami with their glaring need would be a great fit for Williams who would compete for a starting job on day one with the Dolphins. The Dolphins have already upgraded their offense through trades and can now concentrate on upgrading their defense through the draft. Williams has a great deal of potential and his weaknesses could be corrected with NFL caliber coaching.
