The second week of the search for the 2010 NFL MVP saw only a few changes. New York Giants wide receiver Hakeem Nicks, the billion-to-one shot to win the award, has been eliminated from the list. As has 2010 CPOTY candidate Wes Welker, who is more likely to return to the list than Nicks. The current Comeback Player of the Year is the first player mentioned in this week's investigation.
2010 NFL MVPs after week three: Michael Vick
Vick is just more than a surprise at this point of the season. He's currently second in the NFL in passer rating, has six touchdown passes and zero interceptions and has a 7.4 yards per carry average. Vick has not looked like the "player of old" as others have mentioned. He's actually been much, much better. Vick is more than just one of the most exciting players in the league. He's currently one of the NFL's best quarterbacks. Whether or not this will last is still unknown.
2010 NFL MVPs after week three: Peyton Manning
Big shock that Manning remains on the MVP list. He continued his stellar 2010 season with a 325 yard, three touchdown performance against Denver on Sunday. Manning has nine touchdown passes and no interceptions thus far, and he gets to face the pitiful Jacksonville pass defense this coming weekend. Don't expect Manning to slow down anytime soon.
2010 NFL MVPs after week three: Jay Cutler
Cutler had his worst game of 2010, hardly a terrible performance, against a talented Green Bay defense, and his Bears are still undefeated. He's still third in overall QB rating and has six touchdown passes to only two interceptions. Cutler could have another big game this Sunday night against a Giants team that's struggling on and off the football field.
2010 NFL MVPs after week three: Troy Polamalu
Polamalu wasn't phenomenal in week three, but he didn't have to be as the Steelers absolutely dominated Tampa Bay. If a defensive player is going to win the league's MVP award in 2010, Polamalu is that man after just three weeks of football.
2010 NFL MVPs after week three: Adrian Peterson
Peterson makes his first appearance on this list after two impressive performances. Against the Dolphins and Lions, Peterson rushed for a total 305 yards and three touchdowns. With quarterback Brett Favre obviously struggling early on in 2010, it's beginning to look like the Vikings will need Peterson to carry the offense if the team is going anywhere noteworthy this season.
