2010 NFL Playoff Scenario After Week 17 Final Games

Team Match Ups for NFC and AFC

The NFL Playoff picture is pretty clear at this point. With week 17 games out of the way for the NFC. The Vikings killed the Giants 44 to 7 to earn the second seed and secure a bye in the first week of the playoffs. The first week round of the playoffs for the NFC will look like a repeat of week 17's Regular Season games with the Cowboys playing the Eagles and the Cardinals playing the Packers again.

Because the Saints are first seed, they will play the lowest seed winner of the playoffs in week two. This is where it gets tricky. If the Eagles beat the Cowboys, the Saints will then play the Eagles in the second week of the Playoffs Season, because they are the lowest seed. However, if the Cowboys beat the Eagles and the Packers beat Arizona again (just like week 17), the Saints will play the Packers because the Packers will then become the lowest seed remaining. But, if the Cardinals beat the Packers and the Cowboys win over the Eagles, the Saints will play the Cardinals.

Just the opposite is true for the Vikings. Because the Vikings earned the second seed, they will play the winning team with the higher seed. If the Eagles beat the Cowboys, the Saints play the Eagles and the Vikings will play the winner of the Packers vs. Cardinals game. If the Cowboys beat the Eagles and the Packers beat Arizona again (just like week 17), the Saints will play the Packers and the Vikings will play the Cowboys.

As a Viking fan, I am hoping that the Eagles win and the Packers beat Arizona, so Brett can get an additional chance at a Packers defeat in the playoffs. If both the Vikings and the Saints come out on top they will play each other in the NFC Championship game for a chance to play in the Super Bowl.

The AFC is still undecided until tonight's games are over. Currently the Indianapolis Colts have secured the first seed, with the San Diego Chargers sitting in the second seed. The Cincinnati Bengals will play the New York Jets tonight in the game that will determine the outcome of the AFC playoffs. If the Jets win tonight then they will earn the Wild Card position. If they lose, then Houston will earn the spot and the Jets will be out of the playoffs. If the Jets give Houston the playoff slot, it will be the first time ever in franchise history that Houston has made it to the playoffs. At this point, everything is still up in the air.

The simple fact of the matter is that the Green Bay Packers will be playing the Colts in the Super Bowl. The Vikings suck and they only win at the Dome because of the biased officiating, Packers will hammer the Cardinals again. They are a team on the rise and crushing stats all around the NFL, The Colts are also the real deal. Think I am wrong? Take a look at all of the records of the teams in the playoffs as well as who they played, it's crystal clear, PACKERS/COLTS,= SUPERBOWL!
