New England Patriots at Detroit Lions
The Patriots are fresh off an emotional win over the Indianapolis Colts and will be ready to take on a Lions team that has been unable to earn a much needed win. The Patriots are going to use their balanced attack to keep the front seven of the Lions' honest and slow down their pass rush. If this game was not in primetime the Lions might have a chance to catch the Patriots off-guard like the Cleveland Browns did. Expect another dominant win by the Patriots on Thanksgiving Day.
Prediction - New England 31 Detroit 14
New Orleans Saints at Dallas Cowboys
The Saints and Cowboys are both coming off successful offensive showing with each unit putting up at least 34 points on their last opponents. NFL fans can expect to see the Saints Drew Brees and Cowboys Jon Kitna in an aerial battle to earn a much needed win. The Cowboys have been a different team under interim head coach Jason Garrett but that will not be enough to earn a win against the defending Super Bowl champions.
Prediction - Saints 28 Cowboys 21
Cincinnati Bengals at New York Jets
The Bengals will need to find a way to bounce back during this short week after a disgusting loss to the Buffalo Bills. Their Thanksgiving Day opponent will be the Jets, who continue to find a way to win even if it is not pretty. The Bengals defense will need to find a way to shut down the big play, especially against the Jets, who are in the top five for pass attempts over 30 yards. Do not expect to see the Bengals to put up much of a defensive showing and will be on the losing end again.
Prediction - Jets 27 Bengals 13
Green Bay Packers at Atlanta Falcons
This Sunday game is going to feature two of the more prolific offenses in the NFC. The Packers, averaging 24.6 points per game will be heading down South to visit the Falcons, who average 24.7 points per game. The deciding factor in the game will be the defensives ability to produce enough turnovers to help minimize their opponents' scoring chances. The Falcons are a dominant team at home and should squeak by with a win in the game for top spot in the NFC.
Prediction - Falcons 31 Packers 28
Carolina Panthers at Cleveland Browns
In the battle of bottom run teams, the Browns will be ready to bounce back after the tough loss and take on a Panthers team that is continuing their downward spiral. The Browns are going to rely on their stud running back Peyton Hillis to run right through the Panthers 27th ranked rushing defense. The Browns will earn another win and show they are a franchise headed in the right direction while the Panthers are stuck in neutral and not sure where to go.
Prediction -Browns 21 Panthers 7
Pittsburgh Steelers at Buffalo Bills
The Steelers shut down the once promising Oakland Raiders and will be taking on a Bills team that put up 49 points on the Cincinnati Bengals. NFL fans should expect a tough game from the Steelers who want to stay near the top of the AFC rankings. The Bills offense did look impressive last week but is going to have trouble against a Steelers defense that is ranked in the top five in the NFL. When the game is done, expect the Steeler faithful to be celebrating their eight win of the season and a share of the lead in the AFC North.
Prediction -Steelers 24 Bills 13
Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Giants
The Jaguars earned a tough win over the Cleveland Browns and will be ready when they travel to New York to take on the Giants and their two-game losing streak. Despite the lack of a stud quarterback or wide receiver, the Jaguars continue to find a way to win and remain in the hunt for the NFL playoffs. The Giants offense is off kilter and something needs to give if they want a chance to earn the NFC East title. The Giants will rebound with a close win and ease the concern of their fans.
Prediction -Giants 28 Jaguars 24
Minnesota Vikings at Washington Redskins
The Vikings are sinking fast and need to be rescued after their dismal performance against the Green Bay Packers. They will be facing a Redskins team that earned a hard fought win over the Tennessee Titans. The Vikings offense looked inept last week and should consider placing Brett Favre on the bench. While that will not happen, NFL fans should expect to see the Vikings rebound slightly this week as the swan song for Favre and Brad Childress continues.
Prediction - Vikings 17 Redskins 10
Tennessee Titans at Houston Texans
The Titans lost a much needed win last week against the Redskins and will be trying to rebound when they take on the Texans who are looking to bounce back from the close loss to the New York Jets. The Texans secondary does have their holes but it should look better against a Titans passing game that looks average at best. The Titans playoff chances hinge on this win but it will be a hard sell before the home crowd in Texas.
Prediction - Texans 27 Titans 17
Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks
The Chiefs reasserted themselves as the division leaders in the AFC with a win over the Arizona Cardinals while the Seahawks remain atop the NFC West even with a loss. The Chiefs defense rebounded nicely, holding the Cardinals to 13 points. They will be traveling to Seattle to face a Seahawks team that is 3-1 at home. The Chiefs passing game is going to be key to their victory and their improbable run to the division title.
Prediction - Chiefs 31 Seahawks 17
Miami Dolphins at Oakland Raiders
The Dolphins could not get out of their own way and in the end zone when the Chicago Bears shut them out last week. They will be heading to Oakland to take on the Raiders who scored a grand total of 3 points against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Both teams should put up a better offensive showing in a game that will determine their playoff lives.
Prediction - Raiders 24 Dolphins 10
Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Baltimore Ravens
The Buccaneers defense stepped up last week to shut down the 49ers. Now they will need to find another key performance when they head to Baltimore to take on the Ravens who are fresh off a dominant win over the Panthers. The Ravens defense is going to be a handful for second year quarterback Josh Freeman as they try to make the offense one-dimensional. Expect a tough drag out fight between these two teams that should be entertaining to both sides.
Prediction - Ravens 17 Buccaneers 14
Philadelphia Eagles at Chicago Bears
The Eagles will be ready to get back on the field after the tough game with the New York Giants while the Bears try to maintain the momentum they built from the decisive win over the Miami Dolphins. Michael Vick began to look human against the Giants and will face another tough defense in the Windy City. The Bears will have a solid game plan in place on the defensive side and will hope to keep their quarterback Jay Cutler upright and healthy against an aggressive Eagles unit. Without a doubt, this is going to be one of the better games of the week.
Prediction - Bears 17 Eagles 14
St. Louis Rams at Denver Broncos
The Rams will be ready to rebound from their loss to the Atlanta Falcons when they head to Mile High Stadium to take on the Broncos. The Broncos offense will need to get on track early to take advantage of a Rams defense that is underrated by anyone outside of St. Louis. Quarterback Kyle Orton is going to continue to show NFL fans why he is one of the most undervalued signal callers in the league and deserves a starting spot.
Prediction - Broncos 24 Rams 17
San Diego Chargers at Indianapolis Colts
The Colts will be ready to move past their disheartening loss to the New England Patriots while the Chargers will be recouped from their Monday Night game. We can expect both Phillip Rivers and Peyton Manning to air the ball out and light up the scoreboard in this Sunday night game. The Colts will be at home and that will give them the edge in this match-up even if Rivers out performs Manning.
Prediction - Colts 35 Chargers 27
San Francisco 49ers at Arizona Cardinals
This snooze fest is going to close out an otherwise impressive week in the NFL on Monday night as we watch the bottom two teams of the NFC West. With both teams still searching for consistency at the quarterback position, they are going to need to rely upon their running games to shoulder the load and create a scoring opportunity. This game is going to come down to whoever will make the least amount of mistakes.
Prediction - 49ers 21 Cardinals 17
