2010 Oscar Nominees and Nude Scenes: Which Actresses Have Done Them?

Aida Ekberg
Which of the 2010 Oscar nominees have done nude scenes? Here's a look at the nominated actresses that have appeared in their birthday suits for movies:

Annette Bening - Costar Julianne Moore might have been the actress with all the nude scenes in "The Kids Are All Right", but Annette Bening also hasn't been afraid to strip down in the past in movies like "The Grifters", which she actually had a full frontal nude scene in (she also scored an Oscar nomination in the Best Supporting Actress category for that role).

Nicole Kidman - "Rabbit Hole" star Nicole Kidman is one of the actresses here who is known for scoring Oscar nominations and showing plenty of skin. She didn't show any in her Oscar-winning role in "The Hours", however, she did have the honor of stripping down in Stanley Kubrick's last movie, "Eyes Wide Shut" (which she didn't score an Oscar nomination for).

Natalie Portman - This "Black Swan" star is one of the Oscar nominees of 2010 that's newer to the Academy Awards racket, having been nominated just once before in the Supporting Actress category for her role in "Closer". She donned a thong in that film, but her only true nude scenes can be seen in "Hotel Chevalier".

Michelle Williams - Out of all the Oscar nominees of 2010 here, she's the only one that shows skin in the movie that she was nominated for. However, it wasn't the nude scenes in "Blue Valentine" that almost got the movie rated NC-17, but a controversial sex scene. So fortunately for Michelle Williams fans, the rating scare probably won't make this the last time you see her star in nude scenes in a movie that's actually good; nude scenes almost seem like a prerequisite to any movie she plans on appearing in (but she also does a good job of choosing movies that are award-worthy)

Helena Bonham Carter - Like Michelle Williams, Helena Bonham Carter is one of the Oscar-nominated actresses here that has appeared in countless nude scenes. She's shown skin in "The Wings of the Dove", "The Heart of Me", "Margaret's Museum", and many other movies, however, she kept herself tastefully clothed to play the wife of a king-to-be in "The King's Speech".

Jacki Weaver - You might not know this star of "Animal Kingdom" as well as some of the other nominees here, but it's about time this lovely lady not afraid of doing nude scenes in movies like "Jock Petersen" and "Alvin Purple" got a little recognition for her body of work.

Melissa Leo - Her character was quite the fighter as a tough, controlling mother in "The Fighter", and Melissa Leo has definitely had to fight to get where she is today, starring in nude scenes in gems like "Streetwalkin'" along the way.

So while these actresses nominated for Oscars in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories have done plenty of nude scenes in their day, only one actually showed skin in the movie she was nominated for. So does this mean that skin isn't in when it comes to winning awards in Hollywood? It does kind of seem that way, as it seems like these days the more artistic movies steer away from nude scenes, leaving that racket to movies like "Piranha 3D". And whatever happened to the human body being an award-worthy form of artistic expression? It looks like modern "artistic" movies like "The Social Network" that objectify women without showing them naked have put an end to that trend.

It's interesting how many Oscar nominees have shown skin, done nudes scenes, or bared it all.
