2010 Oscars Hottest Gowns

Perhaps more important the Oscars are the celebrities' gowns. After all, the male attendees pretty much look the same. Pile them all together and they look like a sea of waiters-very expensive waiters. Truly, the Oscar Awards presentation is Ladies Night-with the ladies displaying an interesting parade of gowns.

Making quite a statement is Best Supporting Actress nominee, Vera Farmiga. Donning a luscious Marchesa gown, she saunters down the red carpet in a delicious bevy of scarlet ruffles. It is probably best to describe it like a rose whose petals have been peeled to reveal the silky bud underneath (yes, the dress is that pretty.)

Jennifer Lopez, not to be outdone, dazzles in her Armani Privé gown. It is pale pink, the pink of bubble gum that's been chewed for a really, really long time. The liquidy looking train and curvy bodice are sublime details and complete the ensemble perfectly. And when she moves her leg a little to the right, you get a tiny peek at her drop-dead gorgeous Ferragamo heels.

Sarah Jessica Parker and her Chanel gown also create quite the stir. While all the other Oscar ladies are showing off tight bodices, the "Sex & the City" star opts for the couture gown's drapey effect. And how can you go wrong with couture Chanel? The buttercream colored gown with silver embellishments simply oozes glam. Critics really seem to hate this dress. But Sarah really loves it, even hinting at "accidentally losing it."

Mo'nique looks elegant in cobalt blue (a color worn by Hattie McDaniels when she won an Academy Award in 1940)-complete with a white rose adorning her sleek bun. The resulting look is very Billie Holiday. And it's completely appropriate for the evening, considering Mo'Nique's her big win in the Best Supporting Actress category.

Helen Mirren is wearing a lilac Badgely Mishka gown with sheer sleeves and "sprinkly" beading. Somehow, even with her understated ensembles, Mirren always manages to show up looking innocently alluring. Hmmm... This sentiment has been heard before.

Queen Latifah nails Oscar glamour with her dusty rose-hued Oscar gown, which was custom made. In keeping with her royal demeanor, she's got jewels encrusted along one shoulder, and draped at a slant under her ample bosom. Sophisticated and feminine is the result.

Last but not least, an honorable mention should be handed to Susan Geston, wife of actor Jeff Bridges. Though her husband who is the Oscar nominee, she purrs in her black Monique Lhullier couture. She caps off the chic look with a pair of turquoise drop earrings and a sexy tousled chignon.
