2010 Oscars: Predictions and Winners List

Here are my predictions for the 2010 Oscars. Who will be on the winners list of Oscar Nominees if I had my choice?

Let's start with my picks and predictions for Best Picture. I think this is one of those years if you don't choose Avatar you will wonder why 10 years from now. Avatar is among a solid list of other Oscar Nominees including The Hurt Locker. Not only does the visual masterpiece of Avatar stand out from the crowd but it also serves as the movie people will remember forever. Avatar was the single most memorable movie experience I have enjoyed since Star Wars. It was the first movie that actually made me say "wow" and made me feel as if I were a kid again. For this reason, I think Avatar deserves to win the award for Best Picture. The movie list is absolutely phenomenal this year but my predictions say Avatar should win on many levels at the 2010 Oscars winners list.

My 2010 Oscar picks and predictions for Actor in a Leading Role? I personally like Oscar Nominee Jeff Bridges to win for Crazy Heart. Bridges is one of those actors who seems more believable in every role. I think Jeremy Renner, another 2010 Oscar Nominee, could be a close second for Hurt Locker. The winners list should include Jeff Bridges in my opinion.

2010 Oscar predictions for Actor in a Supporting Role? My picks have Oscar Nominee Christoph Waltz for Inglorious Basterds taking the honors. His memorable performance still stands out among some other fine work with a strong competitive list of Oscar Nominees from that category this year.

My predictions and picks for Actress in a Leading Role? I've heard Oscar Nominee Sandra Bullock may be the favorite for The Blind Side this year. I wouldn't be surprised if Meryl Streep sweeps it away at the last moment with her performance in Julia and Julia. Helen Mirren is also another safe bet when it comes to the 2010 Oscar Nominees. My head tells me Bullock wins this one but my heart says Streep will swipe it away.

We move on to Actress in a Supporting Role. Who will win the 2010 Oscar? My picks and predictions have 2010 Oscar Nominee Maggie Gyllenhaal taking top honors for her work in Crazy Heart. This is one of those awards that could go to any of the candidates. It's really close but I expect Maggie to have a solid chance.

Other predictions for the 2010 Oscars winners list? I expect Up to win best animated feature. Avatar should take Art Direction and Cinematography. James Cameron will also take Directing as Avatar is finally recognized for the splendid film it is.

Even the people who were critical of Avatar still say they enjoyed it. I think there's a lot to be said for a movie that could change the future dynamics of how sci-fi movies are made visually. Avatar was an experience. I think the movie will be awarded strongly on 2010 Oscar night.
