If the Indianapolis Colts trample over their opponents in the upcoming 2010 NFL season - and by chance they have another 10-0 season, will Coach Jim Caldwell let his team achieve what they missed in the 2009 season?
During the 2009 season - it was a magical time for the Colts organization, their fan base, and the players who participated in something that could have been a unforgettable memento to a rookie coach; instead a perfect season was squandered away by a decision that did not sit well with die hard Colts fans who viewed it as a forfeiture that gave the New York Jets an opportunity to walk their way into the playoffs.
Even though the Colts did not achieve the perfect season in 2009 - and Peyton Manning did not win the Super Bowl in 2010, there is one thing for sure; the Colts will have a chip on their shoulder as they approach the 2010 NFL season.
Professional football is a strange game of delicate intangibles where great teams window of opportunity can be decided by great players and bad decisions that can ultimately change the outcome of a season.
If by chance the Colts replicate what they did in 2010 - you better believe that the Colts fans will be calling for Coach Jim Caldwell's immediate firing if he makes the same decision he did in 2009. In the long run of the Colts 2009 season, the decision not to start their starters was not Coach Caldwell's decision alone, the owner Jim Irsay played a major part in that decision which played a integral part in the Colts not winning Super Bowl 44.
The haunting lingering question may be for the Indianapolis Colts will and can they can achieve the perfect season in 2010, or will it be a matter of twisted fiction that will be their fate and demise in 2010?
