2010 Pro Bowl: Pro Bowl Rosters and Players Announced
The 2010 Pro Bowl Selections Were Announced on Tuesday for the New Edition of Pro Bowl
The Minnesota Vikings lead the way with the most players on the 2010 Pro Bowl rosters, with eight total players that includes five starters on offense and defense. Philadelphia, Dallas, and Indianapolis followed them up with six players on the 2010 Pro Bowl rosters. New Orleans, San Diego, and Baltimore each had five players of their own on the team. One shocking revelation was that the Cincinnati Bengals ended up with zero players, making them one of the six teams that have no players on the 2010 Pro Bowl rosters. For the first time in quite a few years the Seattle Seahawks had no players either, but they have been pretty terrible in 2009.
Brett Favre made yet another Pro Bowl roster, with this one being a back-up role to Drew Brees on the NFC roster. Tom Brady is also serving as a back-up on the AFC side of things, but one has to wonder where Ben Roethlisberger is in the selections. Where is Matt Schaub who leads the NFL in passing yards with 4,467 right now? Where is Thomas Jones, the star running back of the New York Jets who has 1,324 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns through the first 15 games of the 2009 season. It seems that quite a few good players were left off the rosters this year, but that isn't much different than years in the past. Maybe some of them will end up being replacements for injured players that choose not to play in the 2010 Pro Bowl.
The 2010 Pro Bowl will be played on January 31st, 2010, the week before the Super Bowl, in order to possibly draw more interest to the game this year. Maybe they will be successful in making the game worth something, because in the past it has just served as a nice vacation to the players that were selected.
