2010 Pro Bowl Rosters Chosen: Minnesota Vikings Put 8 Players in All-Star Game
Four Teams Place Nearly One-Third of Players in 2010 Pro Bowl Rosters
Each conference has 42 players to represent them. Of the 82 players selected to the 2010 Pro Bowl rosters, nearly one-third (26) are from just four teams.
Among the Minnesota Vikings headed to the 2010 Pro Bowl are Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, and Sidney Rice. Favre's replacement at Green Bay, Aaron Rodgers, will also make it to Hawaii this year. But Favre and Rodgers have to take a back seat to Drew Brees of the New Orleans Saints, who will start for the NFC.
On the AFC side of the 2010 Pro Bowl roster, Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts will be the starter. Philip Rivers of San Diego and Tom Brady, New England's stellar quarterback, will back Manning in the quarterback position.
The NFC will start the aforementioned Peterson at running back, while Chris Johnson of Tennessee will get to start for the AFC.
Some of the more recognizable names playing for the NFC on offense are the Cardinals' Larry Fitzgerald at wide receiver and Jason Witten at tight end from Dallas (although he won't start; that honor was given to Vernon Davis of San Francisco). For the AFC, the Colts' Dallas Clark will start at tight end and teammate Reggie Wayne will start at wide receiver.
On defense for the AFC, linebacker Ray Lewis and safety Ed Reed of the Baltimore Ravens (who put five players on the 2010 Pro Bowl roster) join the Colts' ends Robert Mathis and Dwight Feeney as well as the Steelers' James Harrison at outside linebacker. For the NFC, Darren Sharper of the New Orleans Saints will hold down the free safety position, while Julius Peppers of Carolina and Jared Allen of Minnesota hold down the ends. Dallas Cowboys' Demarcus Ware holds the outside linebacker position while veteran players Asante Samuel of Philadelphia and Charles Woodson of Green Bay slide in at cornerback.
At present, the NFC holds a slight edge in wins in the Pro Bowl series, having won 20 games to the AFC's 19. The NFC has won the last two match-ups.
Pro Bowl selections are made by fan votes, player votes, and coaches votes, all of which count for one-third of the total vote count. Before 1995, players and coaches made the selections for the Pro Bowl.
This year's Pro Bowl will be held on January 31. It will be the first time the Pro Bowl has ever been played before the championship game.

Post a CommentUmmm... yeah, the article states it is in Miami instead of being "normally held in Hawaii."
So, who were the rest of the Cowboys and Eagles from the supposedly weak NFC East? Actually, it doesn't matter. Only the NBA All-Star game is a dumber exercise. If I were an owner, I wouldn't send my players...just another (and pointless) opportunity for injury.
I mean nice... not neic. Anyway, it's in Miami.
The Pro Bowl is in Miami, not Hawaii. Niec reporting.
TN has starter, yeah.
