2010 Prom Dress Style

May is just right around the corner and many people are just not sure what to wear. Today's fashion is a mix of three different decades, all of which played a vital role in history. The 1950's buffet and side curved hair-do is back and gives women a completely new hairstyle with an old look. The 1980's neon colors and bangles can be seen all across middle and high schools, not to mention the 1990's big hair and tight jeans.

Yes three decades of fashion have come back into one decade making this year's prom something of spectacular. Neon colors, bangles and sequins are just a small piece of what this year's prom will offer.
First of all, let's start with the item that takes the longest to choose, the dress.

Pastel colors are out and neon or even bright colors are in. Neon yellow, green or pink, bright blue, dark red, metallic black, silver, or gold and even patterns such as floral can be worn.

Through-out the 80's and 90's longer dresses were in fashion, however in today's prom world you could get away with both long and short dresses depending on the style you are trying to pull off.

If you are looking for the Madonna style dress up, which is popular then you will want to make sure your dress is not only short, but has lace. Sequins and jewels are very popular so don't forget those as an addition. Don't forget the lace gloves and wavy hairstyle and you will pull off the look just fine.

For a mellower look, you can pull off a black, silver or gold metallic dress with a bun hair style or even a buffet.

Hair is not too much of an importance for this year's prom because bed hair is what is in. Roll out of bed, comb your fingers through it wrap it up or leave it down and that is what is most popular.

Accessories do make the outfit and through the 1980's it was all about the accessories. Bangles, stretch bracelets, hoop earrings, chokers, necklaces and of course handbags should all be included in the makeup of your prom outfit.

If you are wearing a nice short, backless, black metallic dress than hoop earrings and a choker is definitely the way to go.

If you are wearing a halter top dress, than do not wear a necklace but either hoop earrings or dangly ones will make the outfit.

For a long, strapless neon dress you can wear hoop earrings and a necklace but no choker.
No matter what sort of dress style you do wear to prom, you want to make sure it hugs at the hip area. Huge flourishing dresses are out.

For your handbag, make sure you carry a clutch with you, preferably one with a wrap around the wrist string. A velvet or satin handbag is best and again sequins or jewels will shine it up.

Keep it to the 1980's this year for the prom and you'll rock the whole room.
