2010 Puppy Bowl to Serve as Animal Planet Counter to 2010 Super Bowl Start Time

The 2010 Puppy Bowl (Puppy Bowl VI) Will Take Place on Sunday, February 7th

The 2010 Puppy Bowl is being advertised as the best Puppy Bowl yet. Puppy Bowl 2010 gets its start at the 3:00 p.m. PST (6:00 p.m. EST) on Sunday, February 7th, with the network hoping that viewers will want something other than football on Sunday. Puppy Bowl VI will be shown on Animal Planet for the sixth straight year, as the network continues its innovative approach to programming on Super Bowl Sunday. On a day where a football game presents the most watched television program of the year, it's often tough for the other networks to try and compete, so when one of them comes up with something original like this it is often a great thing.

For those that have not seen a Puppy Bowl before, it is where Animal Planet creates a small stadium-like construction where they let puppies frolic together on Super Bowl Sunday. All of the animals that are displayed during the day come from shelters, and the Puppy Bowl serves as a great place for these cute puppies to find a new home. It has become very successful for the Animal Planet over the years, and it has certainly found a lot of homes for puppies that may not have found new owners otherwise. From that standpoint alone this is a great event, but it is also nice that something "cute" is being presented for kids of families that don't care about the Super Bowl.

The most fun element of the Puppy Bowl, is that many different camera angles are used to show the puppies playing, and in between the footage, "stats" are given about the puppy. Those stats include their name, breed, and any other vital information that a new owner might want to know. This year they are even offering a great halftime show of kittens taking the field, so if you get bored with The Who during Super Bowl XLIV flip on over to the Animal Planet. Some of the puppies featured this year will include a Boxer mix, a Beagle, a Golden Retriever, and a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel just to name a few. Make sure to tune in for a family friendly Sunday of prancing puppies.

I actually enjoyed watching all the adorable puppies this year. My favorites were the two sleeping in the end zone and Jake the wild dog running like crazy!
