2010 Rock Festivals that Really Rock

Plan Ahead for These Far Out Music Festivals

Linda Riggs
There are rock music festivals all over the United States each year. I've been going to as many of them as I possibly can since 1975. I've traveled all over the states attending various concerts and festivals and have found that some rock more than others in many ways.

It's obviously important that any given festival have a fantastic line up each year to be considered a top music festival. I've also found that there are other things to consider when planning which festivals to attend.

Accommodations are incredibly important. Most music festivals have camping sites, but if you are not into camping, some festivals require quite a hike to get to the nearest hotel. It's important to consider what level of accommodations you are comfortable with when planning festival activities.

Food is another consideration that should not be taken lightly. You may plan on doing much of your own cooking or bringing snacks but, that's not always possible. All music festivals have some type of food vending. If you're planning on spending several days at a festival, price and variety of foods offered should be taken into consideration.

The very best music festivals are the ones where the management has gone to great lengths considering everything necessary to accommodate large crowds. After going to literally hundreds of music festivals, I've found that there are some that completely out shine all the rest by taking many measures to assure the comfort and safety of those attending the shows. These are my top five choices for the very best music festivals to plan to attend in 2010.

5. Lallapalooza :
It happens every summer in Grant Park in Chicago, Illinois. Chicago's Lallapalooza takes places this year June 6-8. The entrance to the festival is at the intersection of Columbus and Congress. Lallapalooza rates as a top notch music festival for it's incredible inner city location. While attending this festival, you can take in many of Chicago's best attractions. By planning ahead, you can secure lodging in just about any price range. From luxury hotel rooms to tent camping, Lallapalooza offers it all. You can find out more by going to www.lallapalooza.com .

4. Rockfest :
This four day rock festival in Cadott, Wisconsin is one of the best locations of all the festivals listed. Rockfest will be taking place July 15-18, 2010. 1. Moondance Jam :
This rock festival takes the number one spot for festivals that should be visited for a variety of reasons. First, the location can not be beat. Moondance takes place July 15 - 17 in Walker, Minnesota just a few miles from Leech Lake. Towering pine tress and white birch tress surround the festival and give it a feel like no other. Moondance Jam is also known for it's variety in rock bands and it's also a location where all ages can be comfortable. There are a variety of options for lodging. Camping is available on location and there are hotels less than five miles from the venue. There is also a wide variety of food options to fit every budget.
