Since his debut back in 1969, cartoon character Scooby Doo has ever really gone out of style. Sure, his pal Shaggy's bell bottom pants and phrases like "groovy" may not have stood the test of time, but teenage mystery solvers are always in vogue. Now a 2010 Scooby Doo series will have a new generation of fans saying "Zoinks" and "Jinkies".
Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated is the latest incarnation of the long-running Scooby Doo animated series. And while the basic premise of the series is the same as most of the other Scooby series', the characters have an updated , more chiseled look- and there's romance in the air: Shaggy and Velma are a bona fide couple. While in the past you may have assumed that good lookers Fred and Daphne were a couple, their relationship was never a romantic one.
Romance, a mystery and Scooby- what more can you ask for?
How about Matthew Lillard? The actor (Hackers, Scream) played Shaggy in the live action movies Scooby Doo and Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed. Now he's voicing Shaggy in Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated.
Facts of Life alum Mindy Cohn will reprise her role as the voice of Velma (she's been the voice of Velma in the animated series' since 2002).
Indeed, fans have never tired of Scooby and his pals Shaggy, Fred, Daphne and Velma over the years. There have been 11 versions of the Scooby franchise- and that's just TV series':
Scooby Doo, Where Are You , 1969-1970 CBS
The New Scooby-Doo Movies , 1972-1974 CBS
The Scooby-Doo Show , 1976-1979 ABC
Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo , 1979-1980, ABC
Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo 2 , 1980-1983, ABC
The All-New Scooby and Scrappy-Doo Show/The New Scooby-Doo Mysteries 1983-1985, ABC
The 13 Ghosts of Scooby-Doo , 1985-1986, ABC
A Pup Named Scooby-Doo , 1988-1991, ABC
What's New, Scooby-Doo? , 2002-2006 Kids WB on The WB
Shaggy & Scooby-Doo Get a Clue! , 2006-2008 Kids WB on The CW
Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, 2010- 2010, Cartoon Network
Add to that the numerous television movies, direct to video films, live action films and video games- and you can see that Scooby has never strayed too far from the limelight.
Scooby Doo! Mystery Incorporated premiered in July 2010 and can be seen on the cable channel, Cartoon Network.

Post a CommentI have to agree with the parent concerned about all the romance. I watched Scooby Doo Where Are You as a kid, and I was fine with just the "mystery-solving" element. I find the hypersexualized characters annoying, and frankly inappropriate for my 4 & 6 year olds. The new "Mystery Incorporated" perpetuates some very chauvinistic stereotypes. I overheard Daphne's character saying, "If a decision is left up to a boy, he will always make a dumb choice" or words to that effect. And I honestly am not interested in seeing Velma in her bikini! Don't like the new series and am sorely tempted to tell my kids "it's not on TV any more".
why did they have to put any romance in this new series??? The old series never had any of this romance. They say the new series is updated and it will appeal to the new generation??!! what are they saying?.....THIS is a series built around young children!!! My 3 year old loves scooby and he doesn't care about romance. What is going on with the little play backs that they show before the show? It is very disturbing. VERY disappointed
love this show but they seriously- instead of Velma being obsessed with a mystery she is obsessed with Shaggy... it is so weird! lol.
My kids love Scooby Doo.
I haven't found it yet, but I will. Love Scooby Doo.
We are going to have to watch this one. My daughter even likes the older ones.
Scooby dooo of a great one!!!
