2010 Sports Predictions #1: Peyton Manning will win Super Bowl MVP
If the Colts do indeed make it to the 2010 Super Bowl, they're winning the game. I guarantee it. Peyton Manning will not allow that football team to fail. Besides, who else on the Colts will be named Super Bowl MVP if not Peyton Manning?
2010 Sports Predictions #2: The Cleveland Browns will not fire Eric Mangini
At the beginning of December, I wrote that the Browns should bring Mangini back for one more season. Now that the Cleveland Browns have defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers for the first time in six years, you can be sure that Mangini will be back in Cleveland. And why not? Let's not kid ourselves. You could put Peyton Manning and Tony Dungy in Cleveland with the rest of the roster and the Browns would be 5-11 at best.
2010 Sports Predictions #3: Canada will win the gold in hockey
A few years ago, John Cena defended the WWE title in the "rebirth" of ECW. The most memorable part were the angry fans who hated Cena, some to the point that they made a "If Cena Wins, We Riot" sign. That's nothing compared to the reaction you'll see in Canada if the home team can't bring the gold home in hockey in 2010. If nothing else, maybe Edge can get himself involved in the gold medal game and spear the opposing goalie.
2010 Sports Predictions #4: The Cavs won't make the NBA Finals and LeBron will be gone
Shaq will probably be 60 percent by the time the NBA Finals begin. LeBron will be in full "I wish I could Kobe it up but I can't" mode. No way they're winning the East in 2010. Then we'll all get to see the real LeBron, the guy who wants out of Cleveland and wants out immediately. Could be the Knicks or Nets. Doesn't matter. He'll be out of Cleveland.
2010 Sports Predictions #5: The Mets won't win 75 games
Unless this franchise makes a few key moves, the Mets are nothing more than a "meh" baseball team. Nothing more to say here. The Mets are terrible.
2010 Sports Predictions #6: The Pittsburgh Penguins will repeat
The only good thing I've got going for me sports-wise are my beloved Pens. What about this hockey team makes you believe that they can't win the cup for the second season in a row? Right now, the Penguins are actually better than they were last spring. That's saying something.
2010 Sports Predictions #7: Tiger Woods won't win a tournament
You can read my thoughts on the Tiger Woods saga here. As for my 2010 prediction, I'm not even sure that Woods will golf at all. Sure, there are experts predicting that Woods will be back in action by the U.S. Open. Even if that's true, there's no way he will be major-ready by then. I imagine that, if Woods does return in 2010, he'll play on an even more limited schedule than normal. Hope they were all worth it, Tiger.
2010 Sports Predictions #8: The Cleveland Indians will win the World Series
Why not? This one's got to come true sometime.

Post a CommentZach, some bold predictions. I like 'em.
Here's my somewhat satirical take on what's to come in the sports world in 2010.
