Question #1: What is the name of the new series of page view races?
Answer #1: The name for the new set of page view races is Spring into Page Views.
Question #2: What are the dates for the Spring into Page View page view races?
Answer #2: Page Views earned from April 1, 2010 through June 30, 2010 will count for these page view races.
Question #3: Will these be individual, team or both types of page view races?
Answer #3: These will be both individual and team page view races.
Question #4: Is there anything different between these races and the last set of races?
Answer #4: The categories for the individual page view races and team page view races have been further refined.
Also, each league's teams will now only consist of Contributors that are in the same individual racing category. For example, League #2's teams will consist of only those Contributors that are in the 200,000-499,000 individual page view race category. Likewise, League #8's teams will only consist of only those Contributors that are in the 0-9,999 individual race page view race category.
Question #5: How were the teams formed?
Answer #5: First, all new racers with more than 1 million pages views formed a new expansion team to compete against the other two teams with Contributors in access of 1 million page views.
Second, in each racing league, I removed from each team those Contributors that no longer fit the page view requirements for that league. I also took out those Contributors that wished to retire from page view racing and those Contributors whose profile page no longer updated page views.
Third, the teams in ea h league with the most Contributors remaining stayed together under the same name. The other teams were then disbanded and their new Contributors were joined with all the new racers in a sort of draft pool.
Lastly, I sorted all the new racers with racers that needed new homes in a list from most page views to least. I then distributed the racers to the teams on a rotational basis. It was done in the most objective manner that I could think of.
One request came in to include a pre-created team. This team is named the Ninja Monkeys. I felt I was able to put this team into its respective league with disrupting the equality of teams. I did need to add one Contributor to the team.
Question #6: How often will the races be updated?
Answer #6: I will update the races as often as often as I can. In the past, I always wanted to do complete updates. However, sometime I fell asleep while doing these so I didn't put the update. However, with the refinements made to both the individual and team page view races, I should be able to update the races in distinctive segments. Therefore, every race may not be updated everyday there might, but everyday there should be at least several updates. In addition this will allow for more racing commentary articles which I think will be beneficial.
Question #7: Can teams change their name?
Answer #7: Yes, teams can change their name at the start of every race. I think it would be a good idea so we don't have a whole slew of duplicate team names. I realize these races have already started. So let's try and get all name changes done in the next couple of weeks.
Question #8: If a Contributor's page stops updating in the middle of the race will the team get a replacement?
Answer #8: No, it is too hard to administer this is in a fair and consistent manner. We had two situations where this occurred in the last set of races. In the first situation, I allowed Tony Payne to replace a Contributor. This was sort of a unique situation since Tony had only begun publishing on AC after January 1, 2010 and so his starting number was 0. I am glad that Tony joined. Towards the end of the race, another Contributor's page stopped updating. I chose not to replace this Contributor. I felt that since the race was nearly over and that it would be difficult to objectively replace them it was better to have the team operate short handed. So as to have a definitive rule in place should this situation occur again, teams will not get a replacement during a race in progress for Contributors whose page views no longer update on their profile.
Question #9: Is there a minimum number of articles a Contributor needs to publish in order to participate in future races?
Answer #9: No, this is meant to be for fun. Also, with all the new categories and racing leagues everyone can publish and grow in page views as they see fit. At the start of every new set of races, basically everyone will be grouped with Contributors with a similar number of page views. However, I will contact all those Contributors that do not publish any articles in a quarterly race and ask if they wish to remain in the page view races. If they say yes, they will be allowed to stay in the races. I actually think it is neat to see Contributor's who publish little to no new articles, but continue to earn many page views. To me it serves as a visual reminder of the power of residual earnings.
Question #10: Are there any other requirements to participating in these page view races?
Answer #10: Please be positive and supportive of all other Contributors that are participating in these page views races. Reading or viewing the content along with making comments is always welcomed, but not a requirement. Please let me know if you would like to assist me with obtaining the page views for your team.
The page view races started out with races to a certain number of page views. In order to compensate for the fact that not all Contributors were starting on even playing field there also was additional aspect to the race that crowned a winner for earning the most page views during the contest period. There were a total of 38 Contributors that participated in these races.
The next page view race was The Sprint to January 2010. This was just a month race that was designed to help the Contributors focus on closing 2009 strongly. This consisted of individual page view races for the month of December. The number of Contributors that participated in this set of races increased to 41 Contributors.
Before The Rush to April 2010 set of page view races began, Pattie Byrd published AC Writers, Take Your Mark, Get Set and Go. Also, Linda Ann Nickerson took the initiative to create her own team, Inking it Over from scratch. This along with my own efforts helped grow the number of participating Contributors to 82.
Despite being on late notice, before this Spring into Page Views began, Taylor Rios penned, Why You Should Join the Page View Races R.C. Johnson wrote, AC Writers Are Gatherin get the Starting Gate!.html? Want to Join in? Linda Ann Nickerson authored, AC Page Views: The Race is on with Han and Tony Payne published, The Race is On. These efforts along with my own work increased the number to 153 Contributors that participate in page view races.
In addition, before race started, Taylor Rios, Millionaire Hoy, JerseyNana, Randy Inman, Pattie Byrd, Jack Wellman and Shelly Barclay joined me on a committee of sorts to discuss matters of importance to the page view races. This was a fruitful exercise. Millionaire Hoy also created a forum to discuss all things pertaining to the page view races. It can be found here: http://hanpvraces.freeforums.org/
I am sad to announce that there are several Contributors that are retiring from page view races. Accordingly, I wish Abby Greenhill, Ron McQuade, Sherri Thornhill and Khalia Bentson the best of fortunes in their future endeavors. However, I do admit that I hope that their retirement is temporary.
Happily, I am able to announce the return of two Contributors to the page view racing circuit. Please help me welcome back both Mark Albracht and Katie Sharp. Perhaps they will return in the manner that T. Hillukka did. Remember that T. won in her individual page view race and played a key role in her team's page view race victory.
Now that this introduction is complete and hopefully within minutes the individual and team page view charts will be published. I appreciate your patience. I hope that you will all find the races were worth the wait. I look forward to diving in and getting to work on the first round of updates. Please do not hesitate to contact me if you ever have any questions or concerns.
