Post a CommentAmerican Idiot is the most original thing to hit broadway in a decade. Yes, I can see the irony of that bold hyperbole since the musical is an adaptation of an original work, but this is a production that is so different and unique that it truly did deserve the award. Not to mention the fact that having a Punk Rock show might draw new theatergoers.
I have seen American Idoit and LOVED it!! They soo should have won over Memphis...was disappointed. I am a HUGE Green Day fan so I could be a little biased, but frankly none of the shows nominated looked even remotely interesting.
I hadn't heard of American Idiot, but I really want to see Memphis on my next New York trip.
Having seen neither show, the name alone would have determined the winner for me!
Totally missed the Tony Awards! cheers :)
