Residents of Northern Kentucky, often referred to as the "South Side of Cincinnati" have an abundance of Summer camp choices for their children, thanks to the close proximity to the Cincinnati metro. Northern Kentucky residents, however, need not cross the river for Summer camp opportunities for their kids. There are plenty of Summer camp options for Northern Kentucky residents, right in Northern Kentucky. Check out this ultimate guide to Summer camps in Northern Kentucky.

4-H Camp. The three Northern Kentucky Counties, Boone, Kenton, and Campbell, all take kids to 4-H Camp through their respective Cooperative Extension offices. 4-H Camp is held at the North Central 4-H Camp in Carlise, KY. Each office provides transportation via school bus to and from camp, which is about 1 hour away from Northern Kentucky. 4-H Camp is open to children ages 9-13 and is a week long residential (meaning campers stay at the camp the entire week) camp. 4-H Camp attendees participate in activities such as swimming, boating, archery, crafts, nature walks, and more. The cost is approximately $150 for the week which includes activities, food, lodging, and transportation. YMCA Summer Camps. The YMCA of Greater Cincinnati has locations in Kenton, Campbell, and Boone counties of Northern Kentucky. Each Northern Kentucky YMCA location offers different summer camp opportunities. The Summer camp opportunities from the Northern Kentucky YMCA branches range widely in length, cost, and focus. Children can attend Summer camps ranging from sports to animals to various arts and crafts, all through the YMCA. There are both day camps and overnight camps offered. Conservation Camp. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife provides conservation education to students within many schools throughout Northern Kentucky. The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife also has a Summer camp program. Conservation Camp, called Camp Webb, is offered for students living in Kenton, Campbell, and Boone counties in Kentucky. Students attending Camp Webb engage in a variety of outdoor and safety activities including archery, boating, outdoor survival, firearms safety, and fishing. Campers may earn Kentucky's Hunter Education Certificate during their week of camp. Boys and girls in grades 4-6 are eligible to attend. The cost is $215 for a Monday-Friday residential camp experience. Northern Kentucky University Summer Camps. Northern Kentucky University offers a very wide variety of summer camp opportunities for Northern Kentucky children. Athletic camps cover baseball, softball, basketball, soccer, and volleyball. Arts and humanities camps include a musical theater and drama camp and a piano camp. Students interested in mathematics, technology, and science can attend camps such as engineering camp, fun with science camp, java game programming camp, and aeronautics camp. The summer camp opportunities offered at Northern Kentucky University have a wide range of when they are offered, but most are day camps with students attending full or half days Monday-Friday for one week. Thomas More College Baseball Summer Camp. Boys can attend the 2010 Thomas More College Baseball Summer Camp during one of two weeks offered in this summer. This Northern Kentucky Summer camp is a day camp meeting daily from 9:00-3:00. The cost is $110 per camper, but discounts are available for groups from the same baseball team or same family. Canterbury Hill Summer Horse Camp. Canterbury Hill is located in Union, KY in Boone County. Northern Kentucky children who love horses and want to learn more about horses, how to care for them, and even how to ride them, can check out the Summer camps offered by Canterbury Hill. The Canterbury Hill Summer camps are for ages 6 and up and include separate weeks for beginning students and intermediate students. Campers attend this day camp from 9:00-3:00 each day Monday through Friday and the cost is $325. Sunrock Farm. Sunrock Farm, located in Wilder, KY, offers a variety of summer day camp options for Northern Kentucky residents. Farm related day camps which offer opportunities such as milking goats, gathering eggs from a henhouse, bottle feeding baby animals, and planting crops, are all part of the fun at Sunrock Farm. Sunrock Farm offers summer camp opportunities for ages 5-11, some with parents and some without. The price range is $40 per camper to $325 per camper depending on the length and complexity of the day camp, as well as the age of the campers. Art Camp at Baker Hunt. Baker Hunt, and arts and cultural center in Northern Kentucky, offers art classes year round for both adults and youth. Summer 2010 brings many different art day camp opportunities at Baker Hunt. Youth of all ages are eligible for a variety of art camps including "The Amazing Art Race," "Heroes and Monsters," and "Art Tells a Story." Each unique summer camp focuses on visual art and ties visual art into popular culture icons that kids are familiar with.
