2010 Unemployment Extension Rejected by Senate GOP...Again

Jennifer Waite
The 2010 Unemployment Extension bill has been rejected. Again. For the fourth time in one month, Senate Republicans have yet again failed to recognize the desperate need for unemployment benefits to continue for millions of hard-working, yet out-of-work Americans. Though Senate Democrats have bent over backward to please the Republicans and strip down the American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010 of all but the most needed of funding, the 2010 Unemployment Extension efforts have once again failed to come to fruition.

The American Jobs and Closing Tax Loopholes Act of 2010, also known as H.R. 4213, seeks to extend the filing deadline for unemployment benefits until November 30, 2010. Unfortunately, up to this point, the Republicans have shot down all attempts to pass funding to help states pay their unemployment benefits. This is resulting in widespread panic among those who are out of work and in desperate need of the protection the 2010 Unemployment Extension bill could provide them.

2010 Unemployment Extension: Benefits Running Out For Many Unemployed Americans

Do Senate Republicans have blinders on? A million more Americans are said to be joining the ranks of those unemployed and not receiving benefits in the next week; benefits they paid into. In Arizona alone, up to 100,000 people wither already are or soon will be cut off from much-needed unemployment benefits as a result of the government's latest failure to act. People who have received jobless benefits for a period of six months or more are now left to figure things out for themselves; last year, an unemployment extension was granted to help Arizona out of its recession. This year, out-of-work Americans are on their way to being on their own.

Unemployment is not welfare; the GOP needs to realize that, and do so in a quick hurry. With the 2010 Unemployment Extension bill being repeatedly shot down, picked apart and rejected on its face, it seems an insult to the hard-working people in this country who find themselves out of a job (or career, in many cases) through no fault of their own. People who have paid into the fund for unemployment benefits, as is REQUIRED in most places.

How can a government require funds to protect "we the people" in times of hardship, thereby lessening potential burden on society, and then refuse to RETURN these funds when needed, creating a HUGE burden to society in the process? The 2010 Unemployment Extension bill that is being so cruelly cast aside by Senate GOP members would help so many families stay afloat during these difficult times; denying them the basic right to access the money they paid into the general fund when they are in the most need seems almost criminal.

as speaking for one of the many many unemployed americans, congress if they cannot help the americans now in our time of need that they should do to themselves what they have done to us cut their salaries to 20k per year with NO benefits and have an open book policy on all of their accounts so that all americans can see where they are recieving all their income since they think that it is so easy for us well we need to make sure that every choice that they do for us is in our best interest instead of whats best for thier pocketbooks.

I have worked so hard and have paid into everything. Now that I need the help I get a kick in the ass. Well if i lose benefits i guess welfare office will be my next stop, I will not have any other choice but to do this. I have a 7 year old son needs to eat and needs clothes for school. Why don't these Senators take a pay cut just like everyone else has. Why because they will not live the way they do now.
They have no worries of any kind. They don't worry about there homes, car payments why cause they have to with the salary they have.

I think we should find the addresses to these Rep. Senators and pay them a visit. Have them feed us, shelter and clothed us. Since they want to stop our only means of financial aid....YEAH THIS WHAT WE SHOULD DO

We need a list of all the politicians who voted against the extension.

I believe that we should stand together and send e-mails and phone calls to congress. We must tell Republicans to forget about our vote in November!!!!!!!

We have a congress that has forsaken the American people and their needs. They took our jobs and sent them to other nations the cut our salaries and say take it and do the best you can. Then they say there are jobs tell it to the people that are seriously looking and still being said there are no jobs. Yet they put false information out and then the media says unemployment is coming down. How is it coming down when people are still losing their jobs. Industries are still closing down and so on. Where is the Truth here it obviously lies in the those who are making $3,443 a week salaries. Let some of their pay be cut besides we the tax payers are paying their salary. To do what!!!!!! Nothing at ALL! When we pay them money like this they can afford to close the doors and go on vacation til July 12th and enjoy with their families who is not in need and have the best health care money can buy. Yes! Yes! Let's vote the high and mighty politicians out of office! Vote them Out!
