2010 U.S. Men's Olympic Figure Skating Team Led by Jeremy Abbott
The 2010 U.S. Figure Skating Championships Helped Decide Men's 2010 Winter Olympics Team
The 2010 U.S. Men's Figure Skating Championships took place in Spokane, Wash., this past weekend, bringing all of the best amateur figure skaters in the United States to one event. The prize was that the top three skaters would be heading on to the 2010 Winter Olympics in Canada in less than a month, and that was all the motivation that these three skaters needed to put on some of the best performances of their skating careers. The event was split into two nights with the scores then combined to figure out the standings.
The 2010 U.S. Men's Figure Skating Championships were won by Jeremy Abbott, with Evan Lysacek placing second, and Johnny Weir coming in third. The three have all won the national title in their careers; in fact they have each won it twice since 2004, making this a very decorated group of skaters that has really dominated the sport recently. Evan Lysacek is the reigning world champion, so it also shows how deep this U.S. Olympic team will be heading to Vancouver.
Now these three men will try to win all three medals at the 2010 Winter Olympics, but that is no easy task to accomplish. The schedule for the 2010 Winter Olympics has the men's short program taking place on February 16th, 2010 at 4:15 p.m., with the men's free skating taking place on February 18th, 2010 at 5:00 p.m. This will be a climactic event for the careers of all three skaters, and definitely an event that fans of the Winter Olympics will want to watch. It could turn into one of the bigger highlights for the United States Olympic team, and one of their best chances to bring home multiple medals in the same event.

Post a CommentOur decision to send Johnny Weir instead of Ryan Bradley will live in infamy. Weir is not much more consistent than Bradley and only about 1/3 as talented. It has evidently escaped the author of this article, but Weir is yesterday's news, not capable of landing a quad (not even trying) and has no realistic chance at ANY medal unless about 10 stronger skaters choke.
