To be more precise, Norway dominated the competition by winning six gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals. Sweden garnered seven medals, three of which were gold, two were silver, and two were bronze. Germany followed Sweden with five medals, including one gold and four silver medals. Russia won one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, followed by Poland with one gold, one silver, and one bronze medal. The Czech Republic and Finland each won two bronze medals, while Switzerland garnered a gold medal, Italy a silver medal, and Slovenia a bronze medal.

Petter Northug, of Norway, ranked as the leading male cross-country skier by winning four medals, including two gold medals, one silver medal, and one bronze medal. Johan Olsson of Sweden also won four medals, including two gold medals and two bronze medals. His teammate, Marcus Hellner, won two gold medals as well. Alex Tiechmann, of Germany, won two silver medals, and Lukáš Bauer, of the Czech Republic, garnered two bronze medals.
