Thirty six medals were awarded in the 12 speed skating events. The Dutch dominated the sport, winning seven medals, including three gold medals, one silver medal, and three bronze medals. Canada garnered five medals, consisting of two gold medals, one silver medal, and two bronze medals. South Korea won three gold medals and one silver medal. The United States finished with four medals, including one gold medal, two silver medals, and one bronze medal. Japan garnered three silver medals and one bronze medal. Germany and the Czech Republic each won two gold medals and one bronze medal. Russia garnered one silver and one bronze. China, Norway, and Poland each claimed a bronze medal.
Men
No individual male skater won more than two medals each. Tae-Bum Mo, of South Korea, and Shani Davis, of the United States, each won gold and silver medals. Sven Kramer and Mark Tuitert, of Holland, both won gold and bronze medals. Ivan Skobrev, of Russia, garnered silver and bronze medals. Chad Hendrick, of the United States, claimed silver and bronze medals.
