The first way that I know I will keep my resolution this year is because I want to live. I have a family that loves me and depends on me and I want to do everything in my power to be here for many years to be with them. Of course there are many reasons to keep this resolution but the top of my list is for me. I had to want to do this and believe with all my heart that I was going to do everything in my power to succeed in this resolution.
The second way that I know that I will keep my resolution this year is because I have two children. I do not want to submit them or their friends to second hand smoke. We all have heard of the dangers of second hand smoke. I want to not hear my children say their clothes smell and not want to be in the same room as me because I am smoking. My focus will be looking at them, looking into their beautiful faces and asking myself would I ever want them to do to their bodies what I have done to mine? Don't my children deserve to have a mother that is healthy and doesn't smell of smoke?
The third way that I know that I will keep my resolution this year is because of my wonderful husband. I have someone in my life that truly and deeply loves me for me. I have someone who supports me in every way that a husband can. What would his life be like without me? I want to grow old with him and share many more memories together. I am lucky enough to have someone so special to me, don't I have to do everything I can to stay here on earth and continue to share my life with him?
The fourth way I intend to keep my resolution this year is by focusing my energies on my health and reminding myself that everything I do affects me and in some cases the people around me. Quitting smoking causes many to gain weight and in 2010 I will celebrate my daughters Sweet 16, I do not want to gain weight and be out of shape for this fabulous occasion. I will set my mind to become a healthy person, who exercises and doesn't smoke anymore and eats right.
The last way I know that I will keep to my resolution is my parents. Both my parents were taken from me too early, both indirectly and probably due to the smoking they both did. My mother died of cancer and my father died from heart disease. Both of these diseases are related to being a smoker, or made worse by being a smoker. I know they are watching me from above and do not want to see me like them taken long before their time. They want to continue to watch over me and enjoy seeing me live my life.
Of course there are many reasons to quit smoking, but this year 2010, is the year that I plan to keep my resolution. I plan to choose my children, my husband, family, parents, me and of course life. I know this will not be easy and it will be a long hard road that I will have to go down, but I know at the end of that road I will have a better chance of a longer life. I will see my children grow up, I will become a grandmother, I will have my wonderful husband and I will have a smoke free life. My clothes will smell better, my house will smell better and I will have a better chance of living a long life. I think with all these reminders in place I will succeed and next year you can read about my success story of how I am a smoke free healthier person.
