2010 New Year's Resolutions for Whitney Houston

Crack is Whack

Any 2010 New Year's resolutions for Whitney Houston, the famous 80's and 90's diva, must include ways to keep the singer and actress away from drugs and alcohol.

1. Stay away from Bobby Brown

For the most part, Whitney Houston was seen as a good girl in the 80's and part of the 90's. In addition, she was beautiful, and she had a perfect singing voice. Once she met and married Bobby Brown, she became addicted to drugs and alcohol and was on the road to ruining her perfect singing voice. A 2010 New Year's resolution for Whitney Houston is to stay away from Bobby Brown. Do not make the same mistake that Amy Winehouse is making with Blake Fielder-Civil. Although Amy had a problem with drugs and alcohol before Blake, many believe that Blake was a large influence in its escalation.

2. Stay away from drugs and alcohol

Photos don't lie. Whitney told Oprah Winfrey that her drug use began at around 1992. In performances, she began to look shockingly thin with skin dripping with sweat and crazy eyed. Photos have been shown of Whitney with missing teeth, and one famous photo showed her at a gas station mini-mart dressed in a ratty fur coat, hair disheveled, crazy eyed and obviously on something. She looked like a crack head. She told Oprah at one point she didn't get out of her pajamas for seven months. She sat in her house with Brown and smoked crack.

Drugs have ravished Whitney's body, including her throat. The once beautiful voice is now gone. Although she can still sing, her voice is nowhere near as strong as it used to be. She has a difficult time hitting the high notes. The drugs appear to have done permanent damage. Although she has made a comeback, her collection has not been received with rave reviews. Her performances have not been flawless, due in large part to her voice. Whitney must stay away from drugs and alcohol to salvage what is left of her voice, but more importantly, her life.

3. No more crazy reality TV shows

Most reality TV shows that focus on a celebrity's life are an embarrassment. Being Bobby Brown was an embarrassment. Enough said.

4. Consider a new path other than singing

There are other ways that Whitney Houston can continue with her life. She's only 46 years old. Her plans for a comeback are not going as well as they should. She needs to consider what other talents she has to explore. Leonard Nimoy of Star Trek fame took up photography and spends most of his time on his new path. Whitney may need to find a new and healthy path.

5. Continue to reconnect with Bobbi Kristina

When a person is addicted to drugs, and in and out of rehab, it's impossible to be a good parent. A 2010 New Year's resolution for Whitney Houston should be to use this time to continue to reconnect with her daughter. It was nice to see her daughter's smiling face as she watched her mother perform at the 2009 American Music Awards.

6. Share your story

A 2010 New Year's resolution for Whitney Houston should be to spend some of her time speaking to others about drug abuse. Sharing her story with others is a great way to give back.

7. Exercise and eat right

There has been a lot of damage to Whitney Houston's body. If she exercises and eats right, she can take care of what's left. At 46, she is still a beautiful woman. Recent photos of Bobby Brown show someone who does not look healthy. Treat your body well.

8. Keep up your fashion sense

At 46 years old, Whitney Houston knows how to dress in clothing that is becoming for her age. She needs to continue to look like a stylish diva. Madonna is 51 and often tries to dress like her daughter Lourdes Maria Ciccone . Whitney should not make the same mistake.

9. Forgive yourself

Whitney should forgive herself for what happened in the past. She wasted many years with drugs. She can't get those years back, but she can make better choices in the future.

10. Make the right choices from here on out

A 2010 New Year's resolution for Whitney Houston is to seek the right path every day as she continues with sobriety. Some days she'll make mistakes. When that happens, she must dust herself off and keep on moving.

    Oh Stephen, relax.

This one of the most condescending pieces of journalism, or whatever AC purports it to be, I've read in awhile. The writer at once commends WH for doing what she considers the right thing, before issuing a warning not to do it in the guise of a resolution.

WH's comeback is legitimate. She is permanently A-list, which is why hacks like this writer find reasons to write about her (when you obviously know very little).

Whitney Houston will whoop your ass.

Relax Dorian, I'm 47. I look good for my age and I still shop in the Junior department, even when I shouldn't. LOL But I don't want to end up looking like someone who is trying to be younger than they are. I know I make that mistake a lot. I don't want to get old, but I am getting old, and I need to accept that. But thanks for reading my article.

Dorian Grey you are so confused, at one point you were on Whitney's side then you stated that Whitney looked tired and haggard. I dont know who were u looking at but definatel not Whitney. At 46 she is still very beautiful and dresses lovely
befor u post a comment please read over or get your thought together befor you write.

Very good advice. I think Whitney is now at the point whereby she has recognised her mistake. I only wish she had done that three years ago. I missed her, she was gone too long. However i welcome her back with wide open arms. I will always love her, Whitney dont worry cause if somebody loves you, they will always love you no matter what.

Jolie du Pre, your comment about Whitney dressing in clothing that is "becoming for her age" is offensive. How old are you ?? You sound young and smug. You mentioned Whitney's age three times!! We all know that she is 46. There are a few 46 year old women that can still shop in the junior department at Saks and look damn good!! However, I realize that Whitney can no longer do this. But, this is due to the drugs, NOT her age. Jolie, stop being so ARROGANT when giving advice, or someday you will look as tired and haggard as Whitney and Madonna.

I hope she reads this list. I think people by and large hope that she gets her brand back.
