2010 New York Giants Playoff Scenarios

Despite their best efforts, the New York Giants have not yet been eliminated from the upcoming NFL playoffs. The team will need some help in order to play past this Sunday.

The three teams that will determine New York's playoff hopes are the Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and, of course, the Giants. The Giants can make the playoffs if they defeat the Washington Redskins on Sunday afternoon (4:15 pm kickoff) AND the Green Bay Packers lose or tie against the Chicago Bears (also 4:15 pm kickoff). The Giants can also clinch a playoff berth with a tie on Sunday AND a Green Bay loss AND a Tampa Bay loss or tie (TB is at New Orleans, 1 pm kickoff on Sunday).

A Tampa Bay loss is very possible since the New Orleans Saints have to play their starters, as the NFC South and homefield advantage are still up for grabs. The Packers are also not guaranteed a victory against Chicago, as the Bears will be playing for a first-round bye. That contest takes place in Green Bay, however, essentially giving the Packers a home playoff game.

The most important thing for those intending to scoreboard watch on Sunday is that the Giants are eliminated if the team loses to the Redskins.
