2010-11 College Bowl Game Predictions

Here are my predictions which are subject to my minor fluctuations in sympathy for one team for another...they are for the most part my final picks. As spreads become available for all these games I'll try to estimate what these teams can do versus the spread. Stay tuned as I dig up some point spreads and then post my picks.

This set of predictions is from games beginning on Christmas Eve, December 24 through the BCS Championship game on January 10, 2011. Hawaii vs Tulsa...Hawaii is essentially playing a home game versus Tulsa...I pick Hawaii to win.

Toledo vs Florida International...once again I pick the more or less home team in this game being played in Detroit...that means I pick Toledo.

Air Force vs Georgia Tech...not having done a lot of research about the Airmen I'm picking the big Georgia school to win...I pick Georgia Tech.

West Virginia vs. NC State...I know a bit about West Virginia living in Virginia so I lean toward picking the dynamic offensive team over the relative unknown...I pick West Virginia.

Missouri vs Iowa...they're playing in Tempe which is a long haul for each team...I'm not sure about this and will tentatively pick Missouri until my staff alerts me to new data.

East Carolina vs Maryland...the game will be played in the Terrapins backyard in Washington,DC...I have to go with the geography theory in this one..I pick the Terps.

Baylor vs. Illinois...to be played in Houston which puts the state of Texas in the stadium to my understanding. I pick Baylor to Beary the Illini. What's an Illini anywho? I know but do you?

Arizona vs Oklahoma State...the site of the Alamo is the game's location. I pick the neighborhood team the Cowboys to prevail over their near-West neighbors.

Army vs SMU...the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl is the name of this one...I have to admit ignorance of this game, but I'm gonna' pick the big school here...I pick SMU.

North Carolina vs Tennessee...the Vols will be at home in Nashville and they should beat the Tar Heels in this one...I pick my brother's birth-place-state and my Dad's alma mater the Tennessee Volunteers.

Nebraska vs Washington...this one's from San Diego at the home of the San Diego Chargers...the Pac Ten school the Huskies is familiar with the site , but the Cornhuskers bring a rep with them...I pick Nebraska.

South Florida vs Clemson...in a game from Charlotte this has been dubbed the "Muffler Bowl" by some...I pick the local favorite the Clemson Tigers.

Miami vs Notre Dame...the Sun Bowl is played in El Paso in West Texas where no one is home...I'll pick the Hurricanes to win in the prairie dog haunts of El Paso.

University of Central Florida vs Georgia...this game from Memphis is like a home game for the Bulldogs...I'll pick Georgia.

South Carolina vs FSU...this is a neutral field in the Georgia Dome, but I think the old ball coach will win this one...I pick the Gamecocks to win.

Northwestern vs Texas Tech...this game in the Cotton Bowl will favor the Texas team...I pick Texas Tech.

Florida vs Penn State...the game will be played in Tampa, but I pick Penn State to win...I pick Penn State.

Alabama vs Michigan State...Alabama will be at home in NBC's Disneyworld which people think is owned by ABC...I think the Spartans will be very at home though..I pick the Spartans...remember the Spartans.

Mississippi State vs Michigan...I pick the Big Ten again in this one over the Southern school...I pick the Wolverines to win.

TCU vs Wisconsin...I have a Wisconsin alum in my family who'll badger me if I picked the cute horned frogs...I pick Wisconsin to win the Granddaddy of them All--the Rose Bowl.

Oklahoma vs Connecticut...my semi-alma mater the Sooners should be favored by most people over a Big East school in football...I pick the Sooners and their Conestoga Schooner to win...who knew U Conn played football?

Virginia Tech vs Stanford...the Orange Bowl features the Hokies and the Cardinal in a nice coast vs coast game...I'll pick the Hokies to win....those smart kids at Stanford find a way to win bowl games though.

Ohio State vs Arkansas...the Sugar Bowl has the Razorbacks vs the Buckeyes which is a tree common to most of the Northeast and Midwest. Can a tree beat a wild pig with its hair on end from nervous aggression...I think the tree can win this one over my beloved Razorback Pigs. I'm from Arkansas, but I pick the trees to win...I pick Ohio State...sniff, sniffle, sniff, sniff...(who named THE Ohio State University over a deciduous tree anywho?)

Middle Tennessee State University vs Miami of Ohio...I like the original Miami school--the fake-Hurricanes-- based on limited research...I pick Miami of Ohio. Now many more will know who these two teams are with the visibility of a January bowl game.

LSU vs Texas A & M...I like the LSU Tigers in this one played in Arlington, Texas...I pick the LSU Tigers.

Pitt vs Kentucky...on Legion Field in Birmingham Kentucky will be sentimental faves, but Pitt has the talent to win...I pick Pitt to win.

Nevada vs Boston College...this game from San Fran is the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl--what a good cause...I like the hungrier Eagles of BC to devour the desert Wolfpack...I pick Boston College to win.

Auburn vs Oregon...the BCS title game from Glendale's University of Phoenix Stadium will pit Auburn against a dead duck bunch of Oregonians...I pick Cam Newton to score big and dominate...I pick Auburn to cook the Ducks...I pick Auburn to win big.
