2010-11 Where to Recycle Your Christmas Tree in Boise Idaho
Boise's Curbit Recycling Program Plus Contact Information for Hidden Hollow & the AW Transfer Station
The recycling program runs two full weeks. Based on last year's schedule, tree recycling should start on December 27 and run through January 7, 2011. The Boise City website doesn't have the current information posted yet, do check with them closer to Christmas by visiting CityofBoise.org/Curbit/YardWaste/index.aspx.
For procrastinators like myself who wait until oh, March or so to take down that tree, there are a few other options for recycling. Green options that benefit us directly are cutting the tree into firewood for our own use, or running the Christmas tree through a mulcher. It can also be hauled down to the landfill for recycling for a fee.
Boise City has two locations where residents can drop off a Christmas tree for recycling.
The Allied Waste Transfer Station at 4485 S. Curtis is a convenient drop off site for residents living in east, south, and SW Boise. It's not just your Christmas tree that the transfer station will accept for recycling; they will take all your other wood waste as well. The directions are a bit tricky, it's best to call the transfer station first for directions and hours of operation at 362-7564.
Hidden Hollow Landfill (ie "The Dump") at 10300 Seaman's Gulch Road is the second location for Boise residents to drop off the Christmas tree, Christmas boughs, wreaths, and other wood waste for recycling. The prices at Hidden Hollow are quite a bit less than those at Allied Waste and definitely a more affordable option for those of us on a budget. Call 577-4725 for hours of operation and fees for delivering that recyclable Christmas tree wood waste.

Post a CommentTerrific info for those in the area!
Excellent guide! Hopefully people will use it instead of throwing their tree on the side of the road somewhere like they do around here. My dad collects leftover trees from the neighborhood and keeps the branches to protect his plants from frost in the spring. :)
Wow, you are way ahead of the game.
Thank you maam!
Excellent! Thanks for sharing =0)
We still put up the fake tree we purchased at KMart many moons ago - it's the Charlie Brown Christmas tree :) But, the kids still love it (and so do we!) cheers :)
