Celebrities like Rihanna and Sarah Harding Rock This Well

An undercut is not only edgy and cool, but also is very versatile for both men and women. This year 2010 and into 2011 you will see a lot of short and long hairstyles with an undercut. It can be shaved just at the nape of the neck, one side half shaved, full side shaved, both sides shaved, from the top of the ear all the way across shaved, or half way up the head. You can make it simple or drastic, all depends on your taste and creativity used. Leave the under-shaved part normal color, or dapper it up with a bold and vivid look.

Shaved On both Sides And Back (Rihanna Style)

To get this look it's fairly simple. However, the hair does NOT have to be bald you can use a blade attachment which leaves more hair like a number two or one.

First step- Section the hair using a rattail comb. Go from one side of the brow to the other, and clip up the crown and top section of hair.

Second step- Shave the part of hair that's not clipped. Make sure to get all the straggles that sometimes get missed from the clipper. Once the hair is removed, shake that section to make sure no more hairs are visible.

Third step- Using a scissor create a bowl cut starting at the brows and dipping low like a V in the back. Almost like a point coming down. Clean up the neck, and sideburns.

Last step- Style, and have fun.

Tip: If you don't want the bowl cut look, just allow the rest of your hair to hang over the undercut, and create style from there.

Only On The Edges Of The Sides

This look can be achieved on long or short hair. If you have short hair like Sarah Harding all you are going to do is shave like a 2-3 inch wide section that starts at the top of the head and come down to beginning of ear. So 2-3 inches width and around 4-5 inches length wise.

If your not sure about this undercut style then just shave a small section on each side, and make sure to clean the sideburns up and make them into a point.

Shaved Nape

Section the hair in the back from the middle of ear to the other. Clip up the rest of the hair. Using a hair clipper and a number 2 blade buzz that section off. If you need it shorter go with a one. Once the hair is completely off in the nape area only clean the hairs on the neck. Either leave the line looking natural, or make a straight line going across. You can even create a M OR W with the hairline as well.
