2010s Ten Worst NFL Teams

The Ten Worst Scoring Teams of 2010

Tommy Hayfield
The notorious list to not look for your name is this one: The Ten Worst Teams in the NFL . There are many ways to judge the worst team; some might think the worst teams give up the most points and that is also a valid measurement and by that standard the Jacksonville Jaguars would be the worst team in the NFL. Putting points on the scoreboard, however, gets more attention when you think of horrible teams because you really can't win very often without touchdowns.

Top Ten Worst NFL Teams

Number 1
Additionally, there is nothing more boring than a team that can't move the ball enough to keep fans excited and Carolina this year meets television producer's standard of a wet firecracker on the 4th of July. NFL fans expect to see pros make big plays on Sundays and Carolina has no big play receivers available to them.

Number 2
Cleveland has a tough hometown crowd to play in front of and they have Seneca Wallace at quarterback who has thrown for just 4 touchdowns through 7 games. Cleveland is hosting New England in a major mismatch on Sunday...maybe the Patriots will be intimidated by the fans and distracted by the noise. The Browns would be lucky to keep this game close.

Number 3
Seattle was showing a good enough defense for me to pick them to beat Oakland but they put just three points on the board against the Raiders in Oakland last week. Veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has thrown just six touchdown passes so far this year.

Number 4
Chicago has a winning record with an offense I thought would score points when Jay Cutler came across the country from Denver. His powerful arm is not finding open receivers like I expected. They might give Buffalo their first win on Sunday.

Number 5
Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre is a legend and he's also nagged by elbow tendinitis in his throwing arm and two tiny but stressful fractures in his left foot. His injuries put the Vikes on the list of the ten underachieving offenses in the NFL.

Number 6
Buffalo has a Harvard grad at quarterback and he might win eventually and consistently in Buffalo , but they haven't won even one game this year though they lost in overtime the last two weeks to the Ravens and the Chiefs. I think they might beat Chicago on Sunday but they'll still be in the bottom of the heap even after a win.

Number 7
Miami has made a habit of winning without any apparent momentum coming from anywhere. How can you go win-less at home and not lose on the road with a 4-0 record. Momentum comes from a place like home (and ACTUALLY home) where you are established and recognized for something. They are the NFL's backwards team. Can they make the playoffs without a home field presence and without a home field reputation for winning? I don't think so.

Number 8
Arizona has benched 25-year old rookie quarterback Max Hall in favor of Derek Anderson who has been playing football since getting out of college and hasn't been doing mission work in faraway places. Maybe Max Hall (BYU graduate) will be a good NFL player when he focuses on football again. I don't know if Anderson can get them out of the bottom of the heap this year or not but we'll see.

Number 9
Tampa Bay has been Joshing us this year with Josh Freeman and Josh Johnson who are Tampa Bay's top two quarterbacks. They Joshed us 'til last week when they literally exploded for 38 points against Arizona who also amazingly found an offense (scoring 35 points) that was wandering in the dessert apparently seeking shelter. They invited the offense to participate and get out of that insane heat and the Cardinals put 35 points up in one game to a previously ridiculous total of 98 points in the first six games. Until the Arizona game Tampa Bay had also scored only 98 points in 6 games.

Give me the wide open spaces of the Wild Wild West!

Number 10
The 49ers are also the team of double vision as are the Tampa Bay Buccaneers having two Smiths at quarterback. Alex Smith is the number one and Troy Smith is the number two. Alex has thrown nine touchdowns this year in eight games...it's remarkable they've won twice this year.

The Ten Worst Teams in the NFL and their total points scored this year

Carolina Panthers 85
Cleveland Browns 118
Seattle Seahawks 123
Chicago Bears 126
Minnesota Vikings 129
Buffalo Bills 131
Miami Dolphins 133
Arizona Cardinals 133
Tampa Bay 136
San Francisco 137
