2011 Celebrity Restraining Orders

Stalking is the most common reason why a celebrity files for a restraining order. Halle Berry, Lindsey Lohan and Paris Hilton, to name a few, have had stalkers in the past. However, for some celebrities, the danger is closer to home. In the past year, a few of the restraining orders filed, or changed, were because of a loved one.

Daniel Baldwin

Over a month ago, Joanne Smith went on a drunken rampage and threatened to kill her husband, Daniel Baldwin, with a knife in front of their two children. After the incident, Baldwin got a restraining order against Smith and custody of the kids. However, TMZ.com has announced that Daniel Baldwin dropped the restraining order against Smith claiming she does have a drug and alcohol problem but, also, had a change of heart. The couple has petitioned the court to drop the divorce proceedings, which are currently before a judge waiting to be signed.

Charlie Sheen

The biggest celebrity this year is Charlie Sheen. Brooke Mueller, who is the mother of Sheen's children and estranged wife, petitioned for a restraining order back in March. The judge agreed to the order, as well as, giving Mueller full custody of their twin boys. Mueller, stating Sheen threatened her, dropped the restraining order three weeks later. TMZ.com reported Mueller dropped the order after settling her differences with Sheen.

Katherine Ross

Katherine Ross, known for her role in the movie 'The Graduate', filed for a restraining order against her daughter Cleo. Cleo, who is 26-years-old, stabbed her mother six times in the arm with a pair of scissors. Ross, who had to seek medical attention, stated at the hospital her daughter had lost control. Meanwhile, TMZ.com later reported a judge dismissed the restraining order after Ross and Cleo failed to appear in court.

Rihanna

Back in August, 2009, singer Rihanna filed for a restraining order against Chris Brown after he assaulted her. Brown and Rihanna, who had been dating at the time, have long since broken up. However, MTV reported that in January, 2011, Rihanna dropped the restraining order to a level one. The original order prevented Brown from having any contact with Rihanna, but now he may communicate with her.
