2011 Event 3: $1500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split (8 or Better)
World Series of Poker at the Rio, Las Vegas, Nevada
The 2011 WSOP has a $1500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split (8 or Better) poker tournament on June 1, 2011. This is the 3rd event in the summer poker series. This event is scheduled to last for 3 days. It begins at 12 noon on the 1st.
In recent years, these kinds of low-buyin games that are not No-Limit Hold'em have gotten several hundred but usually less than 1000 players. A field of 600 to 900 players is a good estimate for this game. No-Limit Hold'em is clearly the most popular format, but these kinds of kitchen-table games like Omaha 8 are still pretty popular in this series.

PokerNews also has live updates for all of 2011's events.
This article will be updated with the final-table winners and payouts as the tournament concludes. After that, you may find all payout information at The Hendon Mob website.
After Day 1, the players are not even close to the money. This is kind of typical of a limit tourney, as the bustouts increase rapidly as the limits go up later in the tournament. There are 210 players left out of a total of 925. The fact that this is the first non-NLHE event of the series may be the reason for the good turnout.
The winner of this $1500 Omaha Hi-Lo Split tournament will receive $262,283. 90 people (slightly less than 10%) will cash for at least $2,809.
The players have now made the money on Day 2. Play will continue for several more hours.
At the end of Day 2, there were still 25 players left. Here are the Top 10 in chip counts:
1. Francesco Barbaro
2. Matthew Waxman
3. Vladimir Shchemelev
4. Bradley Helm
5. Jimmy Fricke
6. Daniel Smith
7. Kostas Kalathakis
8. Michael Deveronica
9. Richard Monroe
10. Travis Pearson
On Day 3, Francesco Barbaro took that lead and won his first bracelet. This is Francesco's first bracelet. Here are the final-table standings and payouts:
1. Francisco Barbaro $262,283
2. Kostas Kalathakis $161,675
3. Matthew Waxman $104,770
