2011 Football Schedule Game-By-Game Predictions Yield These AFC Playoff Teams

It's hard to know what's going to happen in 2011 with respect to the NFL season. As I've written previously I would think that the players would understand how the fans feel and at least from the ones I've talked to they think that whatever problems the players have should be worked out without work stoppage. I've written my own scenarios using the new 2011 schedule for every team and am finally ready to unveil the winners.

The AFC

Houston Texans (9-7): In my article about the Texans that you can go to here, I have recounted what I think the Houston Texans will accomplish in 2011. The key is they are continuing to mature as a team and I expect they will tough to beat at home. In fact that was how they got a 9-7 record. They split the games in the AFC South going 3-3 but then made a play for the 2011 Wild Card which they got by going 4-1 at home losing only to the Steelers.

Baltimore Ravens (10-6): Despite a good nondivisional road record and being tough in the NFC North games, the Baltimore Ravens will stumble at home and this will "drop" them to 10-6. This puts them back in the wild card as in 2010. It adds up to not getting past Pittsburgh once again and being a year older. You may read my write-up here.

Indianapolis Colts, AFC South Champs (10-6): While going 2-3 on the road, the Colts will be tough on the AFC South and at home. They are a seasoned team that makes it a habit of getting into the playoffs one way or another. Their 2011 season formulary looks like this.

Pittsburgh Steelers, AFC North Champs (11-5): Like the Colts the Steelers are a veteran team with a winning personality. The reason they're the champs of the AFC North is they maintain their good home record against non-divisional teams. Read about them here.

San Diego Chargers, AFC West Champs (10-6): You can read my logic about the Chargers here. I believe San Diego was a major underachiever in 2010 and will rebound in an effective way. The AFC West will be an unpredictable division but the Chargers will prevail.

New England Patriots, AFC East Champs (12-4): In the mold of Indianapolis and Pittsburgh, the Patriots are old-timers when it comes to playoffs. They'll be there again only this time it will be as a powerhouse. In 2010 they were not that much of a definitive player in playoff consideration. Their outstanding non-divisional road play at 5-0 is what puts them above the AFC East crowd, see here.

As fans we will wait and see what happens. In the meantime I submit one look at the possible 2011 regular season sans dates and pairings.
