2011 Golden Globes Review: Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Supporting Role Goes to Glee's Chris Colfer

Several of the Actors Had Not Been Nominated Before One of Them was the Winner

Within the first hour and the fourth category presented live at the 68th Annual Golden Globe Awards was for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television. The presenters were from the currently released film "Country Strong", Garret Hedlund and Leighton Meester.

The Nominees:

Scott Caan - Hawaii Five-0 (CBS - Drama)
Chris Colfer - Glee (FOX - Comedy/Musical)
Chris Noth - The Good Wife (CBS - Drama)
Eric Stonestreet - Modern Family (ABC - Comedy)
David Strathairn - Temple Grandin (HBO - TV Movie)

The two latter actors won Emmys last year, but three actors had not been nominated for a Golden Globe before. They are Scott Caan, Chris Colfer and Eric Stonestreet. It was Chris Colfer's amazing performance as Kurt Hummel on "Glee" who deservedly won his first Golden Globe Sunday night announced by presenter, Leighton Meester.

Colfer's acceptance speech was brilliant and not overdone like some of the ones beforehand. He encouraged kids who are bullied at school for being different that they can make a difference and he is proof of that. Here is that portion of his speech "Most importantly, to all the amazing kids that watch our show and the kids that our show celebrates that are constantly told no by bullies in their school and they can't be who they are ... Well, screw that, kids,"

Virtually the entire cast of "Glee" was at the table congratulating him when he was going to accept his award. Of course I would have loved it if this had been a tie with my other favorite in the category, Scott Caan. At least Caan was in very good company in being nominated. All in all a very impressive list of five actors nominated for Golden Globes.
