With the new 2011 Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows movie being released, Halloween stores are getting all geared up for the kids with many costume ideas. The number one being Harry, followed by Herimone and so on. For kids, what about going as Potter's friend Hedwig The Owl since everyone is going to be Harry? Here's how.
Hedwig Halloween Costume
Most of the retailers are selling this costume anywhere from $25.00-$138.20 dollars. Guarantee you though after the movie is released the prices will rise. With a few items, you can have your very own Hedwig without breaking your wallet.
You will need a white sweatshirt, white sweatpants, white fingerless gloves, white faceless ski mask, glue, red fabric, cotton, tan fabric, 3 yellow buttons and big black eyes.
Putting The Owl Together
Place the shirt and pants flat. Then glue cotton on the whole shirt except the arms. Once the glue is dried apply cotton to the whole ski mask.
While the glue is drying prepare the owl eyes. Cut out 2 huge tan circles. Then create a big white circle on top of the tan with the cotton. Once the glue is dried, place the eyes on and create a nose.
If your not crafty at all, then just paint an owl face on. I done the homework for you, and found a very good Hedwig YouTube Tutorial by Mandiola9 . The video is very easy to follow, and the owl makeup looks great. The basic items are needed such as white face makeup, sponge, black paint, yellow paint, black lipstick, thin paint brush, and maybe fake black eyelashes.
Now if your one of those parents who can care less about saving money, and can not put together a costume to save your life then I guess you can check out the places who sell Harry Potter Hedwig costume right on Google. Just put "Hedwig costumes" into the search box. Then click on the shopping tab right on the left side. Some of the hottest stores are listed such as Amazon, AnytimeCostumes, Buy.com, Costumes4Less, and even the CostumeSuperCenter.

Another easy way to make an owl costume is to buy a homemade colored owl hat online for under $14 dollars, wear a pair of sweatpants, a sweatshirt, booties, and loads of brown mixed feathers. Go with a pink or purple hat for the girl and a brown, tan, or blue hat for the boy.
