2011 Hot Red Hair Color Choices Plus How to Keep it

Angel Vee
Red hair is huge this year and will carry over to 2011. One recent celebrity who rocks this color is Rihanna. Although the hue looks rather fake, it still remains a hot choice.

Nowadays almost any color can be mixed together. Red looks great with blonde, black, brown, turquoise, and even platinum. My top shade choices for 2011 are bold, bright, deep, and exquisite.

Dark Coral Red

This very vibrant color can be used as a base, chunks of highlights, over dark hair, or on bleached hair for intense. The best coral red I know of is by LA Riche. It comes as a semi-permanent, but can last on the hair as permanent if you don't wash your hair every day. If you can not find this brand, opt for Raw Color, which can be found at hot Topic.

Tomato Red

This tone has vibrance, and small tints of blonde running through it. One I like is called Dark Red Blonde by Clairol Radiance. It almost represents a color of a fresh tomato.

Copper Red

Hot, hot, hot this year. This color is popular, because of it's versatility. It can be worn simple and natural, bright and intense, or deep and warm. You can mixed it on blonde, brown, lighter red, platinum, or even pink. Many great companies such as L'Oreal, Clairol, Matrix, Redken, Goldwell, and even Joico carries great copper shades to fit all personalities. I am sure there are other companies, but these are the ones I am familiar and worked with.

Plum Red

Not everyone wants a purple hue to their hair, but if you mix the right amount of red with just a touch of plum, the shimmer in your hair will be exquisite, especially a nice brown base with red/plum highlights. Gorgeous combination. Joico, or L'Oreal make a nice shade.

Cherry Chocolate

This has to be one of my favorite color mixes for this year. You get the classy look with chocolate, but once you add the cherry voila you now have class and beauty. You can dye you hair a nice deep brown and add a rich red on top, or just go buy L'Oreal Feria Chocolate Cherry. Make sure to leave the color on for at least 30 minutes, and when you go to rinse it out DO NOT use hot water. Make sure to do a allergy test, because this stuff can cause reactions on sensitive skin.

The most important part when it comes to red hair is keeping it from fading. I am going to give you an easy and cool tip. It might sound gross to some, but it works so good.

After you have colored your hair. DO NOT wash it for 2-3 days. Each day sprinkle a light dusting of powder all over your head and scalp. One you will smell good, and two it will help you from itching. Then follow these simple tips from an article I wrote a few years ago called Tips On Keeping Your Red Hair From Fading.
