Now when we all think of red we think, bold vibrant blood red as the color, but there are different shades such as coral, red-orange, scarlet, crimson, plum red, and so on. The problem with red lipstick is keeping it on all day and making it stain your lips without it feathering or smudging.
Your solution to this problem is red food coloring. I know some might be thinking it's an crazy idea, but let me tell it does work. Knowing Easter is around the corner, I was looking in my spice cabinet to see what I have and what I need. I saw the box of food coloring and took it down from the shelf.
While mixing up some colored milk, I caught my daughter playing with the food coloring. I automatically told her to go inside the bathroom and immediately wash her hands with soap and water, because this product does stain the skin. So I went about my business and continued making the colored milks. My daughter comes out of the bathroom, food coloring was gone off your hands and fingers, but appeared on her lips.
She said "Mommy, I have red lipstick now" I laughed, but I allowed her to keep the red food coloring on to actually see if it stained the lips or not since we all know it stains the skin everywhere else. It worked! Hours later after eating, drinking, playing and taking a cat nap, the red coloring still remained on the lips like it was just placed on a few moments ago.
How To Apply
Instead of getting the dye on your hands/fingers first. Place a drop or two onto a Q-tip and apply to the lips. It gives like a matte look, so if your looking to add shine place some clear lip gloss or vaseline on top.
When you are ready to take the food coloring off your lips, you can use a drop of baby oil, makeup remover, soap and water, or apply a baby wipe real quick.
Any allergic reactions to the coloring will appear moments after applying. DO NOT add more than one to two drops on the lips. Too much can one be a real pain to remove, and two your lips might soak up the dye to the point where you can't remove it.
