Indian Premier League is the professional league of Twenty20 cricket competition in India. Started in 2008, it's the buzz when it comes to cricket in India. The fervor of cricket coupled with the association of top-notch Bollywood stars and industrialists make IPL one of the most sought-after event widely followed across the globe.
The schedule of the DLF 2011 IPL indicates 10 teams will play 74 matches at 13 venues over 51 days. The provisional 2011 DLF IPL schedule and fixtures is available for download at the BCCI website.
The BCCI may change the 2011 IPL schedule because of the 2011 State Assembly elections.
The 2011 IPL format sees a change for the top final slots.
According to BCCI, "To qualify for the Final, the top four teams in the League will have to negotiate a new play-off system that has been introduced for the 2011 season.
In the new format, the teams finishing 1st and 2nd in the League stage will compete in the first play-off game, Qualifier 1. The winner will progress directly to the Final, whilst the loser will have a second chance of reaching the Final via the Qualifier 2 play-off match.
The teams finishing 3rd and 4th in the League stage will compete in the Eliminator - the winner will go forward to Qualifier 2 (where they will meet the losing team from Qualifier 1). The loser will play no further part in IPL 2011 and will finish in fourth position.
The winner of Qualifier 2 will progress to the Final, where it will play the winner of Qualifier 1."
Cricketing fans all over the world eagerly wait for the excitement of Twenty20 matches to commence. Two fixtures are scheduled daily from April 8, 2011 at 4pm and 8pm (IST). The 2011 IPL playoffs will be played from May 24 through May 28 (no match on May 26).
Chennai will host the 2011 IPL finals on May 28, 2011 at 8pm.
So, which IPL team are you rooting for? On a personal note, my heart goes out to Shah Rukh Khan and his Kolkata Knight Riders. Come on guys, pay heed to the anthem "Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo Re!" as you put your best foot forward.

Post a CommentWhy don't teams buy Pakistani players - although the friction is there, these players are good. Its unfair of the BCCI to tell teams not to buy a certain player because he is from Pakistan
I have no clue about the game, but find this article very interesting.
