Making predictions for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards isn't easy. That's because it's not always that easy to determine pop appeal. Still, I have a strong feeling about several of the categories in the 2011 MTV Movie Awards list. With that in mind, here are my predictions for the big show.
Best Movie
This is perhaps the toughest of the categories to pick. Why? Black Swan, Social Network and Inception all are award winning type movies. But they are up against teen favorites Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows: Part 1 and Twilight:Eclipse. I do have an incredibly strong feeling toward this category though in the 2011 MTV Movie Awards list. Inception, although an incredibly well made movie, probably has no chance to win this category. I think ultimately Twilight: Eclipse edges out Black Swan thanks to heavy teen voting.
Best Kiss
Hands down Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart from the Twilight Saga take this one. My predictions aren't straying too far from the usual on this pick-but how can you deny Stewart and Pattinson another opportunity to take the stage for an unpredictable moment of Twilight zen?
Best Fight
My 2011 MTV Movie Awards predictions is pointed toward Amy Adams in The Fighter. How can you deny this normally girl next door the moment she produced in this boxing heavyweight drama? I think when the list of winners from the MTV Movie Awards is revealed, Adams will emerge as the girl who got catty for good reason. The Joseph Gordon-Levitt scene in Inception might have a chance to steal the moment away but I truly believe audiences will identify with Adams-if they actually saw the movie. If not, maybe the Harry Potter trio claims this one.
Best Villain
I'd say this one is a no-brainer for an MTV based popularity contest. Leighton Meester in The Roommate gets the win here. I'll have to admit she was quite evil and her portrayal deserves some recognition. Considering who she is up against, I think Meester is an easy lock for this unless fans vote for Mickey Rourke in IronMan 2.
Best Jaw Dropping Moment
Something is seriously wrong with the world if James Franco doesn't pull off this award for 127 Hours. Franco loses a limb and walks away from inevitable death in a movie based on a true story. A very popular Justin Bieber is up for an award here, though. It wouldn't completely surprise me if Bieber fever somehow prevail in the 2011 MTV Movie Awards.
Natalie Portman certainly provided many jaw dropping moments-but I think it will be hard to overshadow what transpired in 127 Hours.
Biggest BadAss Star
This is a tough one. I want to say the young votes will give young Jaden Smith the win for Karate Kid. Although Robert Downey, Jr. could sneak one out because he is, afterall, IronMan. Still, my predictions say Smith is on his way to following in the footsteps of his BadAss dad.
Other winners I am predicting for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards list?
Ryan Reynolds takes the Best Scared Performance for Buried. Jesse Eisenberg gets the Best Line for The Social Network. Best Breakout star will go to Hailee Steinfeld for True Grit. Best Comedic Performance goes to Adam Sandler for Just Go With It. Best Female Performance to Natalie Portman in Black Swan. And best male performance to Jesse Eisenberg for The Social Network.
That's it for my list of predictions for the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. We'll see who takes the big prizes home tonight when the show airs on MTV at 8pm CST.
