2011 MTV Video Music Awards: The Complete List of Nominees Plus What to Expect

Victoria Leigh Miller

It's that time of year again, when MTV's wild and crazy, one of a kind Video Music Awards show takes center stage. And with 2011 being the 30th anniversary year of the former all-music channel, fans can expect a bit of nostalgia amid the craziness.

But first, as of now this year's VMAs will be host-less. They've done that before-- in 2004 and 2007-and one has to wonder: Why? Wasn't Russell Brand available?

Amy Doyle, MTV executive VP for Music and Talent, told Billboard it's "down to the wire" for a host for this year's show. Maybe they're trying to find Arsenio Hall.

"We hope to say who it is before the show," Doyle said. So, expect a host to be announced at some point before Sunday. Yay!

Meanwhile, performances at the VMAs are always a highlight and this year's lineup features an opener by Lady Gaga (let's hope she keeps the meat dress at home!) Other performers include Pitbull & Jessie J, Adele, Bruno Mars, Chris Brown, Lil Wayne and Young The Giant.

In addition, tributes to Britney Spears and the late Amy Winehouse have also been announced. And for the tweens in your house, pop princess Selena Gomez will host the VMA pre-show.

Here is the complete list of nominees for the 2011 MTV VMAs. Who do you think will win a moon man this year?
