2011 NFL Mock Draft: Post-Combine Edition (Early March), Picks 11-15

This is the post-combine edition of my 2011 NFL Mock Draft. I'll do at least one more heading into the draft. Until then, here are mock draft picks 11-15 heading into the combine.

Houston Texans 1st Round, 11th Overall Mock Draft Pick
I had the Houston Texans trading up to the #6 position with the Cleveland Browns. Therefore, this would be the Browns pick (in my imaginary world). I believe Julio Jones would be a great addition to the Browns offense and serve as Colt McCoy's first primary receiving threat. With the Texans needing to move up to acquire Patrick Peterson or Prince Amukamara, I believe these would be great trading partners. The Browns would have more picks and could obtain a starting defensive lineman at #11 if Jones wasn't available. They'd also save money by falling five draft positions.

What if the Texans stay? Well, they have two options. They can go with the best cornerback available (In my mind, that'll be Brandon Harris). They could also add Julio Jones alongside Andre Johnson. Johnson has never had the secondary receiver that eliminates double coverages.

Option #1: Trade Up to #6 with Browns; Browns take WR Julio Jones - Alabama
Option #2: CB Brandon Harris - Miami
Option #3: WR Julio Jones - Alabama

Minnesota Vikings 1^st Round, 12^th Overall Mock Draft Pick
The Vikings are built to win now...except at quarterback. Then, they're built to win never. The Vikings have an interesting predicament because they need a veteran quarterback to help this team win now. That, or just blow everything up.

With their roster situation, I believe they'd trade their 12^th overall pick for Kevin Kolb before committing to one of the four projects (not saying they actually would trade their 12^th for Kolb, just saying that's more likely than the Vikings relying on those four with a veteran roster). They probably wouldn't need to sacrifice that much for Kolb (2^nd, perhaps?), but the collective bargaining scenario will prohibit player trades during the draft.

Vikings will look for immediate assistance. With an aging defensive line and Ray Edwards possibly testing free agency, the Vikings will likely take advantage of a draft deep in defensive linemen. Cameron Jordan would give the Vikings fresh blood on the defensive line and a solid contributor opposite Jared Allen.

Option 1: DL Cameron Jordan - California
Option 2: DL Stephen Paea - Oregon State

Detroit Lions 1^st Round, 13^th Overall Mock Draft Pick
Detroit Lion fans thinking about playoffs? They've proven that they can compete with the Green Bay Packers, and a good draft could make them a playoff team. The passing defense has improved amidst a talented defensive line, but they'll need to focus on their 24^th ranked rushing defense.

Justin Houston, Brandon Harris, and Stephen Paea are possibilities. Houston had a great combine and he might surpass Akeem Ayers in the first round.

Option 1: LB Justin Houston - Georgia
Option 2: CB Brandon Harris - Miami

St. Louis Rams 1^st Round, 14^th Overall Mock Draft Pick
Don't think the Rams would pass up Julio Jones even with three receivers returning from IR. I wouldn't anticipate Jones falling to 14, however.

The Rams passed up on Ndamukong Suh for Sam Bradford. Now, they could add Stephen Paea to their defensive front. Paea demonstrated his strength with 49 bench presses at the NFL combine. He has been over looked due to the depth of defensive linemen in this draft, but Paea can be a disruptive force.

Option 1: DL Stephen Paea - Oregon State
Option 2: CB Brandon Harris - Miami

Miami Dolphins 1^st Round, 15^th Overall Mock Draft Pick
I believe every single mock draft I've seen has Mark Ingram going here. Luckily for you, I strive to be different.

The Dolphins don't have a second round draft pick. They appear more than happy with Chad Henne at quarterback. However, do you commit your only draft pick in the first two rounds to a power running back who possesses limited homerun threat? At a dime-a-dozen position, the Dolphins could probably use their first rounder more efficiently and find a quality running back later in the draft. Besides, what's a running back with no offensive line?

Look for the Dolphins to trade down. Mark Ingram could still be available late in the first round because few teams need a running back. They could also consider Gabe Carimi, Kyle Rudolph, Quinton Carter, Marcus Cannon, or Mike Pouncey.

For the sake of this mock draft, I'll say they trade down into the late first, stockpile some picks, and eventually take Mike Pouncey. The Dolphins need interior offensive linemen, and Pouncey is versatile enough to play any of the interior positions, although he'd be favored at guard. Rudolph would be tempting, but his run blocking and injury concerns may scare him away from Miami as their first selection.

Option 2: Trade Down; Draft TE Kyle Rudolph - Notre Dame
