2011 Nissan Murano Gets New Looks

Nissan is keeping busy these days and doesn't want its lineup to lose any of the advantages it might have over the competition. As such, the Japanese company has just revealed the 2011 Nissan Murano mid-size crossover. The new model boasts a radically different front fascia, as well as new features and a brand new trim line, the SV.

"With its contemporary exterior design, 'mobile suite' interior, advanced technology and refined, premium driving feel, Murano stands out as a modern crossover SUV like no other," said Al Castignetti, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, Nissan North America, Inc. "With the enhancements for 2011, there are even more reasons for consumers to put Murano on the top of their shopping lists."

First off, as you can see above, the new Murano is still keeping up its eccentric design scheme. The old razor-like grille is no more, replaced with a different one. The front bumper has also been restyled, although it looks bit bloated.

New design cues were also implemented in the rear of the new Murano, including the rear glass, the integrated roof spoiler and the new taillights with LED technology. Chrome inserts were applied to the dual exhaust pipes, and will definitely go with optional extras like 20-inch wheels or other such things.

Speaking of options, the new Murano will have plenty of them, as Nissan is throwing things like a dual panel sliding moonroof, new aluminum and wood accents, heated frond and rear seats, a power liftgate and a rearview monitor to help with the parking of the crossover.

On the inside, the 2011 Nissan Murano will boast things like a 7.0-inch monitor for the infotainment system, an auto dimming rearview mirror with compass and HomeLink transceiver or a heated steering wheel. A new audio system has been installed, with iPod and Bluetooth connectivity. If you opt for the more expensive SL version, you'll also get a Bose audio system with nine speakers and two subwoofers. The Nissan Navigation System and a 9.3GB hard drive can also be had as options.

Even though a lot of changes were to the outside and the inside of the 2011 Murano, customers will still be stuck with just one engine. THe VQ-series 3.5-liter V6 is rated at 260 HP and 240 lb-ft of torque. It can be paired with the new Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission, which, according to the company, "provides a sporty and smooth driving experience." The Murano is also packed with safety features like a Vehicle Dynamic Control system, as well as Traction Control as standard.

The 2011 Nissan Murano will be available in no less than eight versions. There are four equipment and trim lines available, S, the new SV, SL and LE. Each of these versions come in either front-wheel drive or with the Intuitive all-wheel drive system, meaning you've got a lot of choices to make.

The refreshed and restyled 2011 Nissan Murano is set to appear in dealerships across the USA in the middle of October.
