2011 Razzies Nominations: 'Twilight' and 'Airbender' Top the List with Nine Each (Full List of Nominees)

Last Year in 2010 Saw Its Inevitable Bad Films & Actors Here Are the Nominees

Maxine Nelson
In its true tradition the Razzies announced their nominations exactly 24 hours before the Oscar nominations at 5:30 a.m. Pacific Time Monday morning. Unlike the Oscars honoring the very best in films and acting the Razzies or Golden Raspberry Awards honor the absolute worst. 2010 was a year of remakes, reboots, sequels, rip-offs and re-imagining. In other words not a lot of originality went into many of the standard films made for pure entertainment only. A new category was introduced this year. Two films received the most nominations while a number of others followed closely behind. Now let's take a look at the really bad films, actors, screenwriters and directors of the previous year.

Surprisingly the tween sensation film series "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" received the most nominations with a total of nine out of the ten categories. The Twi-hards aren't going to be happy about this. It's not like it had a chance at the Oscars. Also tied for the most nominations was "The Last Airbender" directed by M. Night Shyamalan. Once upon a time in the late 1990s he directed the Oscar worthy "Sixth Sense." My, my how times have literally changed. Shockingly enough, "Sex and the City 2" which was brutally ravaged by the critics only received seven nominations. This included worst film and the acting categories for its female leads.

Other surprises were the nominations of "Vampire Suck", which was a spoof on "Twilight." The founder of the Razzies, John Wilson, stated it was funnier to watch "Eclipse" than its parody version. Three divas immensely popular in the 1970s who've had illustrious acting careers were unfortunately nominated in the Worst Supporting Actress category. Those are Barbra Streisand in "Little Fockers", Liza Minnelli in "Sex and the City 2" and Cher in "Burlesque." Former father and daughter acting team of BIlly Ray and Miley Cyrus were once again bestowed with Razzie noms. Perhaps they should of stayed on with the "Hannah Montana" Disney TV series.

The night before the televised Academy Awards on Sunday, February 27 will be the 31st Golden Raspberry Awards or Razzies held at the Barnsdall Gallery Theatre in Hollywood. On Saturday February 26 at 7:30 p.m. is when the Razzie ceremonies take place in its true pre-Oscar fashion. My predictions will be "Sex and the City 2" receives the most wins. That debacle of a film certainly deserves it. Here is a complete list of all categories and nominees.

Very interesting. I've never seen any of the Twilight movies. I must say, I love Jennifer Anniston and I sure feel badly that she's on these lists for worst actress. Anyway, nice work!

I enjoyed reading this. I agree with some, disagreed with a couple. Loved the Twilight books, hate the movies. I yawned my way through Bounty Hunter, so I agree with that movie being included in the lists!

I'm so glad that "The Last Airbender" is getting the recognition that it truly deserves. The movie, that is: the original tv series is an amazing piece of work.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts! Never saw Twilight, my daughter said not to waste my time. Did watch The Last Airbender, and was very disappointed with the film. Could have been much more developed.
