The American Football Conference West consists of Denver, San Diego, Oakland and Kansas City. San Diego appears to be the best team in the division in 2011 though Kansas City went to the playoffs last year and the Chargers didn't. Oakland has a new coach in 2011 as does Denver. Denver appears to be the team most likely to improve a lot in 2011 despite their very tough schedule. Oakland had a breakthrough year in 2010 though the coach who helpped them to rebound is gone. I don't think Kansas City is likely to repeat as champs in 2011. Here are the teams of the AFC West and a blurb to describe their 2011 season. Denver Broncos
The Broncos have new head coach John Foxx coming over from Carolina and he is likely to stabilize the Broncos who were turbulent last year. Denver quarterback Tim Tebow should get more playing time this year and will probably show improvement despite the tough Broncos schedule. The Broncos face the NFL's 3rd toughest schedule in 2011: this year's opponents posted a 133-123 record last year. The Broncos willl travel 14,424 miles to eight road games this year. Here's the 2011 schedule for the Denver Broncos.
Oakland Raiders
Oakland improved greatly last year scoring 59 points in an outburst against Denver last year while piling up a lot of points during the season. Last year's head coach Tom Cable is gone and I guesss the quarterback controversy over who to play will be
revived. Oakland's 2011 opponents in 2011 posted a 126-136 record in 2010 giving the Raiders the NFL's 23rd toughest schedule. Oakland will travel 25,532 miles to road games in 2011. Here's the 2011 schedule for the Oakland Raiders.
The Kansas City Chiefs made the playoffs last year surprisingly though i don't expect them to in 2011. Their schedule is the NFL's 7th toughest with Kansas City's 2011 opponents having posted a 133-123 record last year. The 2011 Chiefs will travel 14,424 miles to their eight road games. Here's the 2011 schedule for the Kansas City Chiefs.
The San Diego Chargers had the best team in the West last year though they missed the playoffs. They greatly outscored their 2010 opponents overall last season and they'll be good this year. The Chargers face the NFL's 9th toughest schedule in 2011: this year's opponents posted a 133-123 record last year. San Diego will travel 26,740 miles to their road games in 2011. Here's the 2011 schedule for the San Diego Chargers.
