2011 Schedule for St. Louis Rams Says 2011 NFC West Champ

Not by Default

Gary Davis
The 2010 season was a surprising one for St. Louis Rams fans. They saw their team post a 7-9 record after a dismal 1-15 season the year prior. They had a new, young quarterback who people began hailing as a future Hall of Famer the moment he took his first workout. They also had a young defense that was getting better every day, and a head coach who understood how to operate it. Unfortunately for the Rams, they dropped their season finale to division rival Seattle, and missed out on the chance to host New Orleans in the wild card round of the playoffs. They enter 2011 with high hopes, and, once they upgrade their horrendous receiving corps and find somebody to compliment slot man Danny Amendola, as well as bolster their offensive line, they should be a force to be reckoned with in the West.

St. Louis against the NFC West

I believe St. Louis is prepared to make a serious run at the NFC West title this season, and I'm predicting that they do that by dominating their rivals. I expect the Rams to sweep Arizona and Seattle, while splitting with a competitive San Francisco. This puts their division record at an enviable 5-1, and puts them in prime position to be crowned division champs when it's all said and done.

St. Louis at nondivisional opponents

The Rams travel to Dallas, the Giants, Green Bay, Baltimore and Cincinnati. A pretty tough away schedule, if you ask me. However, I think they'll handle it quite well, with victories in New York, Baltimore, and Cincinnati, while dropping games to the Cowboys and the defending Super Bowl champion Packers. This puts St. Louis at 3-2 after a pretty tough road stretch: so far, so good.

St. Louis vs. nondivisional opponents at home

The Rams face another difficult set of opponents, even at home in the comfort of their own dome. They host Philadelphia, Washington, Pittsburgh, New Orleans, and Cleveland. I predict defeats against Philadelphia Cleveland and Pittsburgh, with a defeat of Washington and a surprise upset over New Orleans to follow. In the end, they'll finish their home stretch 2-3 against nondivisional opponents.

This prediction has the Rams finishing 10-6, sure fire champions of the NFC West, and perhaps a legitimate contender for the crown. I still think they're a few years away, but as far as making the postseason goes, they have my bet.
