2011 Super Bowl in 3D

The Panasonic Viera is Perfect for a Super Bowl Party

This year, I had an amazing time watching the action at my friend's 2011 Super Bowl party. I live in Wisconsin, a state fanatic about the Green Bay Packers even during their weaker seasons. So you can imagine how excited the Wisconsin Cheeseheads were when the Green Bay Packers made it to the 2011 Super Bowl after a fourteen year hiatus.

Normally, I don't really get that excited about football. My fellow cheeseheads cannot understand this-they think it is the result of some mental deficiency. Truth is, cheering on the Green Bay Packers at Lambeau is fun, but I don't particularly care for watching football on television. And I just can't justify buying season tickets for the Green Bay Packers when I have a huge college tuition bill to pay. So when a group of cheeseheads invited me over to watch the Green Bay Packers on TV at their 2011 Super Bowl party, I accepted, but not because I was excited to see the Green Bay Packers pound the Pittsburgh Steelers to a pulp. I attended the 2011 Super Bowl because I wanted to see the 2011 Super Bowl commercials.

I ended up loving the 2011 Super Bowl party, and not only because the Green Bay Packers won. The cheeseheads had recently invested in a Panasonic Viera TV, which had 3D viewing capabilities. Unfortunately, Fox decided not to broadcast the 2011 Super Bowl in 3D. I would have had that much more fun at the Super Bowl party if I had been wearing a sweet pair of 3D glasses. So thanks a lot, Fox. Fortunately, even without 3D game coverage, watching the 2011 Super Bowl on the Panasonic Viera was sweet. Before the game started, we watched the Sunday NFL Countdown on ESPN in 3D, so I did get to wear the stylish glasses for a little bit.

From my experience at the 2011 Super Bowl Party, 3D viewing on the Panasonic Viera is almost as good as 3D at the local iMax theater. It is perfect for reluctant television spectators such as myself, because it makes you feel like you are actually in the stadium, watching the game. The viewing experience on the Panasonic Viera was also pretty good without 3D. The images looked extremely crisp, which is key when watching professional football teams like the Green Bay Packers. So, while I didn't go crazy like the other cheeseheads, I really did enjoy the 2011 Super Bowl Party. All the same, I really hope that there will be a 3D broadcast to watch at next year's Super Bowl Party.
