2011 Tony Awards Nominations: 'Book of Mormon' Leads with 14 Nominations (Complete List of Nominees)

Anika Noni Rose and Matthew Broderick announced the nominations of Broadway's very best for the 2010-2011 season in musicals and plays. The "Book of Mormon" by the creators, Trey Parker and Matt Stone, of the animated sitcom "South Park" received the most nominations. Not far behind was the musical about racial injustice, "The Scottsboro Boys", with 12 based on the 1930s case of nine black men attacking two white women. "The Book of Mormon" is a smash hit on the Great White Way without any big names. It's about two mismatched Mormons on a mission in Africa who don't hold back on racial and religious issues due to its irreverent humor.

Many recognizable film actors received nominations for their roles in plays. These included Al Pacino, Vanessa Redgrave, Frances McDormand, Ellen Barkin and Edie Falco. One popular actor from the Harry Potter film series, Daniel Radcliffe, was snubbed for his starring role in the musical revival of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." Two successful films made into Broadway musicals that received Tony nominations were "Catch Me If You Can" and "Sister Act." The 66th Tony Awards will be presented live on CBS Sunday, June 12.
