2011 Toyota Yaris 4-Door Sedan (Review)
An Inexpensive and Fuel Efficient Car that is Hip with Plenty of Zip!
In a time when gas prices have reached record levels, more and more people are looking for vehicles that are fuel efficient and affordable. For these reasons, the 2011 Toyota Yaris is the perfect choice. With a modern, appealing, attractive design, and an excellent fuel economy of 29 mpg city/35 mpg highway, the Yaris has quickly become one of the most popular and practical cars for commuters today.
The Toyota Yaris is available as a 3, 4-door sedan, 5 door- hatchback, and is equipped with either a four-speed automatic or five-speed manual transmission. The sedan has a 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine and a 106-horsepower output. The vehicle's affordability, excellent fuel economy, comfortable seats, and stylish appearance are superior to many other small cars on the market today with a wide range of upgradeable options. The Yaris has a state of the art safety system which includes anti-lock brakes, traction and stability control, an anti-skid system, as well as standard brake override technology that automatically cuts off fuel to the engine when the brake applied.
I have been very impressed with the features, comfort, style, and the speed of acceleration of the Yaris Sedan and my experience driving the vehicle was a positive one. When I first sat in the driver's seat I said to my daughter who was in the car with me at the time. "I love the seats of this car, because they provide such wonderful back support." The seats have a special design that provides excellent support and comfort for the back and neck areas, thus giving an ergonomic driving experience. This is an attribute of the Toyota Yaris that makes it the perfect vehicle for someone who needs or desires extra back support.
The steering wheel of the Yaris is smaller that what I am usually accustomed to, but I quickly got used to it and discovered that the small sized wheel made maneuvering in high traffic areas and winding roads much easier. The vehicle handles roads, curves, stops, and freeways with ease, but leans slightly on tight roadways.
The AM/FM stereo system with CD player is fantastic and has a clear, crisp sound, with large, easy to push buttons, and powerful speakers. The air conditioning and heating system work very well. I primarily used the cooling system in the month of June and I found it very effective in lowering the temperature in the vehicle and kept me feeling cool and comfortable while driving on the highways and byways in 100+ degree weather. The power windows/door locks work great and have excellent response times. The trunk of the Yaris Sedan is very spacious and provides plenty of space for transport of groceries and other items.
The braking system is strong and functions amazingly well, except for a small squeaking sound that it made once in a while when I applied the brake. The sound appeared to be a minor issue and in no way affected the performance of the vehicle.
Now, to some people cup holders are not important elements in a car, but I usually become thirsty while driving and I do not like water or other beverages falling and spilling on myself or on the interior of the vehicle. The Toyota Yaris has specially designed cup holders on the driver/passenger sides and in the backseat area that securely hold a variety of cups, cans, and bottles. They are discreetly hidden under a push button compartment and are only seen when pushed. With a simple touch of the hand, the cup holders are revealed and ready for use.
The Toyota Yaris 4 Door Sedan also has excellent speed and acceleration. I noticed that as soon as I applied my foot to the gas pedal, the car accelerated very quickly and the automatic transmission shifted into gear with synchronized accuracy.
Overall, the Toyota Yaris is classy, sporty, cute, fun to drive, and is a practical car for every day commuting. It will definitely save you a lot of time and money at the gas pump.
The vehicle is competitively priced with the MSRP starting at only $13,715 for the 5-speed manual and $14,515 for the four speed automatic transmission.
Whether you are young or old, if you are looking for an inexpensive, good reliable car to drive, then I highly recommend the Toyota Yaris 4-Door Sedan. Out of 10 stars I give it a solid 10.
