ing 2011 Volvo S60,
the automaker will
be making a bold
statement. Of the car,
Volvo says, "It is with-
out a doubt the most
driver-oriented Volvo
has ever presented."
Such is something to
take notice of indeed!
Okay, how does the
automaker back its
statement up? Well,
to start, the S60 is equipped with a 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder engine
delivering 300 hp and 325 lb. ft. of torque. Additionally, the car is all-wheel
drive. The turbo engine is mated to a second-generation Geartronic automatic
transmission, and the car's 0-60 time will be in 6.3 seconds.
Volvo has always been known as an industry leader in safety and this
new S60 will maintain the theme. Thus, the S60 will be equipped with
an innovation called Pedestrian Detection with full auto brake. When the
system detects a pedestrian walking in front of the car, it will first provide
the driver with an audible warring. If the driver does not respond, next,
the system will apply the full brake force to bring the car to a complete
stop. The system is similar to Volvo's City Safety feature that detects
vehicles ahead and automatically brakes the car. This system is also
included on the S60.
The new S60 will be on sale in the U.S. in late 2010. The Volvo S60 -
now safety is something to be excited about. Oh, and one more thing,
the new S60 is a good looking car to boot!
