2011 VW Passat: New, Upscale and Good Looking

Volkswagen will release
its 7th-generation Passat
(New Mid-Size Sedan -
NMS) at the upcoming
2010 Paris Motor Show
this fall. And it will be
coming to U.S. show-
rooms in late 2011.

It is co named B7
to signify its seventh
redesign. It might look
somewhat like the out-
going model, however,

in the flesh, this Passat has sharpened up bodywork, squared-off headlamps,
and a modern VW spec grille.

As a matter of fact, the new Passat shares cues from the Audi (part
of the VW group) offerings and for valid reason as Audi is at the
moment the most profitable fastest growing premium luxury brand
in the world!

The upcoming Passat sits on the Volkswagen group's midsized
transverse engine platform named the MQB component set. It will
have a longer and wider platform that the current Passat.

Under the hood will be a number of VW's latest and greatest engines.
Expect the engines to range from 1.4 to 3.0-liters with turbo and bi-turbos
providing additional punch. Furthermore, expect a number of turbo diesels
including the 2.0-liter bi-turbo making 217 hp and a tree stump pulling 332
ft. lb. of torque. And the fuel economy on the highway will in some cases
be 50 mpg or more.

What else can VW bring to the Passat party? Well, likely down the road,
plug-in hybrid power. When combined with the turbo diesel, the electric
motor Passat will be capable of providing 70 mpg on the highway along
with enthusiast driver grinning performance.

The newest technology on this new Passat includes: no air tires, a wiperless
window cleaning system, an enhanced user computer interface system and
even an electronic stability control system that will actually counter steer
the car in adverse driving situations. Additionally, look for voice activated
GPS, and heated and cooled seats.

The dash and interior materials will be upgraded similar to the Passat CC
offering. The car will offer German sports car like performance with a
well-controlled but comfortable ride.

Look for the base Passat to be priced at under $20,000 with a well
equipped model going for the high $20,000.
