Empire State Building Will Glow in Westminster Colors, 6 New Breeds Announced
Six New Breeds Introduced
The Westminster Kennel Club's Director of Communications, David Frei, will ring the closing bell at the NASDAQ MarketSite on Friday, February 11 at 3:00 p.m. CST.
Frei will be accompanied by six dogs representative of the new breeds added to the American Kennel Club's 2010 dog registry to be introduced at The 2011 Westminster Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show.
Frei's canine companions will include the Bluetick Coonhound (Hound Group), Boykin Spaniel (Sporting Group), Cane Corso (Working Group), Icelandic Sheepdog (Herding Group), Leonberger (Working Group) and Redbone Coonhound (Hound Group).
Westminster Dog Show Schedule
Judges will evaluate four classes of dogs -- Herding, Hound, Non-Sporting and Toy -- on the first day of the competition. The preliminary Junior Showmanship competition is scheduled for Monday afternoon.
On Tuesday the Terrier, Sporting and Working classes will take center stage. The Best in Show category and the Junior Showmanship finals will be judged Tuesday evening.
Video clips highlighting the judging process will be posted at the Westminster Kennel Club website periodically during the two-day competition.
Westminster Dog Show Television Schedule
The 2011 Westminster Kennel Club All Breed Dog Show will be televised on USA Network on Monday, February 14 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. CST and on CNBC from 8:00 p.m.to 10:00 p.m. CST. On February 15 the second day of the show will be shown on USA Network from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. CST.
The Westminster Kennel Club All Breed Dog show is governed by the American Kennel Club. 299,024 dogs have participated in The Westminster Kennel Club All Breed Dog show since the show's inception in 1877. The 2011 show held February 14-15 in New York City marks the 135th anniversary of the The Westminster All Breed Dog Show.
